Hey everyone,

I've searched around to try and find an answer but I couldn't...

Anyway, we are in the stage of preparing the Packet 3 to send to the consulate in Bangkok so that we can receive our interview date. My question is, what exactly do we include in the Packet 3? I have received 2 different links from the consulate website with directions (one seems older than the other) but one mentions that we just need to send the DS-230, photos, and the signed checklist.... while the newer directions state that we need to send everything (DS-230, DS-156, DS-156-K, DS-157, police records, photos, signed checklist etc..)

Can someone who has recently mailed in their Packet 3 to the embassy in Bangkok let me know exactly what you included in the packet?

Thanks, I'd really appreciate the help!

Also, here are the 2 links with the conflicting directions. One was from the US Embassy Website, and the other was given to us in the Letter from the Embassy:

Older: http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/root/pdfs/k_visa_packet3.pdf

Newer: http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/root/pdfs/k_instructions_package_may09.pdf

Follow the newer directions and send it all in.

Is there anyone who recently sent their Packet 3 back to the Consulate in Bangkok that can tell me what they sent?

If you send less than they ask for they simply wont assign an interview date. At some point they will notify you that you didnt comply with the instructions; until you do they will assume you dont want the visa. That notification could take weeks to months.

The people that I know of followed the new instructions. I dont know why you are worried about the former instructions or want to deviate from the current ones. If you are worried that your docs will be lost make copies as a back up. Its a good idea no matter what.

All they are trying to do is streamline the procedure by have the docs sent in. In the past they were hand carried then turned in at the window just prior to the interview. This forced the officers to review them before the interviews which slowed the whole thing down.

Do yourself a favor by complying with the new instructions for the best result.

Yes, follow the newer one. Make sure you send only copies when they request copies. Bring the originals to the interview. Make copies of everything just in case.

As ning said they go over all this before your interview and get a really good idea of any issues your case might have. If this is not all there they will not schedule it.

Thanks I really appreciate the help.

The reason I was confused is because the letter I received from the consulate included the link to the new instructions... However, when I was browsing around the consulate website, they only have the link to the "older" instructions and not the new ones... so I was confused as far as which one to follow and what they wanted to receive but I really appreciate the help...

Thank you!
