Hello Everyone!

Im not due to apply for I-751 til september '11 but here's my dilemma: I just booked my flight to go home for December'11 for 3 weeks, and i didnt realized that the removal of condition application takes more than 3 months. Would me traveling outside the country while my removal of conditions is pending be an issue? I cannot apply for re-entry permit because I wont be gone for more than a year. Any advise please. Its starting to bug me already.

Thanks!

No.

Meaning . . . no problem at all, as long as you have the actual NOA1 with your Green Card.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

When you file you will receive your NOA1 which extends your current green card for one year. Keep a copy of it with you when you travel. My wife traveled to Canada and back many times during the period of her renewal. No questions asked.

Great! I understand that you usually get NOA1 few days after they received your application. So, there is no need for me to apply for Advance parole or any travel documents and such, right?

Correct. I put a copy of the NOA1 in the glove box of both cars and Alla carries her green card. We live right at the border with Canada and go there often (nearest city to our house is Montreal) She just showed her green card and copy of the NOA1 when she came and went. No problems at all.

Keep in mind that you will need to do biometrics appointment as well.

Good advice.

That is true and you do not want to be out of the country when the notice comes. They WILL cancel your application as "abandoned" if you do not show up for the biometrics. Our biometrics came about 1 month after filing but then Pasha had to go back for repeat biometrics. Being out of the country for extended periods during this process is not a good idea and if you do you need to be prepared and able to return on short notice.

We are planning on filing at the end of the month and will be in Nepal from May 21 - June 27 - will it do any good to state this in our cover letter so that Govi can have biometrics appointment before or after our trip? I have read that some local offices do walk-in appointments - does NYC?
