I received a checklist letter from NVC on April 1st 2011 asking me to send them a few documents. There was a whole list of documents that I had already sent but there was no "x" next to tth em so I assumed they didn't require those. On the last page, they had a section named "documents that are missing" and it had a list of few documents with "x" next to them. Was I required to send even the documents listed without any "x" next to them? I am asking this because eventhough I sent it to them, i got an email today saying this:

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

______CORRESPONDENCE INSTRUCTIONS:_________________________________

When responding to the National Visa Center, please include the bar code sheet that came with this

letter. Failure to include the bar code sheet may cause a delay in the processing of your case. The bar

code sheet should be placed on top of all documents being submitted for this case and mailed to the

address provided.

______IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION:__________________________________

The NVC has received the requested Affidavit of Support (Form I-864) or supporting documents.

However, we are still waiting for the response to the checklist letter for the Immigrant Visa Application

(DS-230) or civil document. Please return the requested information so that we may complete the

processing of your case.

I am still confused because I sent them everything they asked for in their last email. This is all the document says that they send me today.

I am a US citizen and this is for my spouse who's living abroad.

Welcome to the NVC!! This is not something new... that you send everything required and you receive an email from them, such as you did. The same thing happened to me, more than once, during my wife's process.

You don't need to send anything that wasn't marked with an 'x'. Only those marked with an 'x' are what they are asking for.

HOWEVER, if you already did send that which they are asking for, than I would suggest you call NVC directly and clarify it with a live NVC operator. If they can't clarify or confirm something, ask to speak with a supervisor.

Also keep in mind, even if you send something by email or update something by email... NVC opens emails in the order received. It's not uncommon that they have generated something (like the notice you received) in the interim, before opening your email or documents you sent in. (YES... sometimes even a week or so after you emailed something.

Again, I would suggest you call and speak with a live person at NVC.

Good Luck!

Thanks a lot. This had me worried. It has been over a year and I've been following their guidelines precisely. Tomorrow is Sunday so Im sure their offices will be closed. I'll call them first thing monday morning. Thanks again!
