While this won't help anyone currently going through the process it may help future petitioners.

Last week I asked about the changing your name, I got some helpful replies, and did some more research on my own as well. The answer seemed to be apply under whatever name your passport was in. Well I want to apply under my married name so I started looking into what I needed to be able to change my passport. In order to change my passport, I had to change over my driver's licence because the passport office wanted photo ID under the new name, so I changed over my driver's licence this morning with no troubles and will wait for the new card to change over my passport. In the meantime my husband and I can submit the petition under my married name and get the process started :)
