what next after NOA2. litlle confused

hello VJ family

i got some few questions for u guys to help me out.

1) when can the us fiance send the packet to the foreign fiancee after noa2 since the intent letter i know he is suppose to send should be close to the interview date. and now since we don't know the interview date yet what is he suppose to do?

2) what kind of things presently is he suppose to send since i know the embassy in Ghana have made some changes in their processes.

3)i will be so glad if someone who has recently gone through the process gives me the exact things to do till u get an appointment for an interview.

The next steps will be outlined in the packets you get from the embassy after your case is received by them - which won't happen until the petition has cleared the NVC. He should send you a complete copy of what he submitted with his petition and you need to the organize the information in a manner that is easy to refer to if it is requested as a part of your interview. You may want to have 2 copies because the embassy may take documents from you. You also want to have up-to-date information ready like proof of your on-going relationship as evident through phone logs, etc. He needs to provide you with the I-134 Affidavit of Support form with copies of his tax transcripts - not tax returns, Ghana wants the transcripts. He can give you an updated Letter of Intent to marry at that time. Review the K1 Guide and Flowchart that is on VJ

In addition to what was mentioned, if you haven't already, you should get police resports from places you lived for more than 6 months, since you were 16. Birth certificate, Divorce certificate, passport. You will also need to get a medical exam with the doctors your embassy tells you to see.

And don't forget to make sure you have the current typed version of the Ghana birth certificate not the handwritten version. I'm not sure about this one, but, Ghana also has a new biometric passport which might be required even if your has not yet expired. Ghana has one of the tough embassies, so you need to be way ahead of them in this game.

Your fiance can start sending you all the evidence stuff now if he want to. I just compiled everything and took it along with me when I visisted 1 month before the interview. I made sure he had copies of the package we submitted for the petition. I then added all phone logs and chat logs. copies of all pages of passport with visible stamps, I134- affidavit of support with my last 2 months of paystubs before interview copies of boarding passes when visited, 3 years tax transcripts and letter from job of emplpyment, letters, emails and card we exchanges. You will have to do medicals, which they will give you instructions when yo get the date to pickup the package. The only major change since we went throught the process is scheduling interview and paying fee up fromt when you make interview date, which Im sure they will give you instructions on. Someone had a post on it about a week or so ago. Hopefully someone can give you more details on that part

there is one more thing. about the police report. i have lived in Accra for a long time but i moved to Volta region (Ho) only last November for my service which will last till august this year. does that mean i have to get a police report from the Volta region and Accra or i should just get it from Accra only. again how do you get the police report?, do you just walk into any police station or the head quarters and get it in a day or does it take time and how much does it cost?.

i never knew Ghana has a current typed version of birth certificate. i have to find out and get it cus mine is the hand written one. about the biometric passport i dnt knw wht to do. is there any one who was asked to get the new one b4 he was issued the visa. i really ned to knw this.

Get it out of Accra- I think its in Osu. Thats all you need.

I would try to get a typed birth certificate- some people have had problems with the hand written. Why not spend the money on these things (you prob. will want one or two in the USA as well for different things) and not have to go back the the embassy. Someone might be able to tell you if they have used a handwritten one in the USA lately....

you right Mensahluv, nothing is done in Ghana in 1 day. hahaha thanks so much for ur help. I'll get the new typed version of the birth certificate and then maintain the old passport becus mine will even expire in 2018. so there is no need to get a new one. God bless
