I sent my husband's RFE packet out on August 31st, by delivery confirmation, and today the website *finally* updated (I guess the website people were on holiday from Sept 1 - 5):

Status: Refused

Your item was refused by the addressee at 9:30 am on September 05, 2006 in LEES SUMMIT, MO 64064 and is being returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.

#######? Anyone know why our package (about 15 sheets in a 9x13 envelope) would be returned to sender?

We got the same message. Our package was sent out Aug 24 and the message said that on Aug 28 it was refused and was being reurned to sender. I am still waiting and nothing has been returned. I wanted to see what reason would be listed on the package. Now it has been more than a week and I am wondering if it was really refused or what I will visit the post office this Friday and inquire, and send another duplicate package....by Fedex this time!

Our long awaited "returned to sender" RFE package finally came back today, 14 days after it was refused in Lee's Summit MO. The reason????

Insufficient Postage!!!! The same reason that M.'s was returned. I did the same thing with taking it to the post office and trusting them to calculate the correct postage and requested delivery confirmation.

I think I know what the problem is. They sent it first class and added the delivery confirmation charge, BUT in reality you cannot send it first class with delivery confirmation. It must be sent priority mail (which costs more) to get the delivery confirmation. Therefore it gets returned with a "postage due $2.60"!

I am tired of dealing with the government bureaucracy and incompetent workers.

I might add I sent another copy of the requested documents last week, certified mail, and they did arrive today.

I saw some of you used express mail or FedEx -- was that for an RFE and if so, what address did you use? I thought only USPS can deliver to a PO Box?

I paid USPS to deliver my package overnight to Lees Summit and they did for $14.40. It was signed for the next day by D Atwell.

Next time (if ever) anyone on here needs to send mail through USPS to USCIS (or anywhere else where it matters), let the post office clerk know you want to send it certified with return receipt. You'll get a green card to fill out to be stuck to the envelope, along with the certified sticker. Then, even though you can track when the item has been delivered, that green card will be mailed back to you with either the recipient's stamp or signature. As for mis-directed mail, that happens from time to time, even with FedEx.

Yes, we had to send a RFE - something they already had-

Well, we sent it on Saturday by USPS, got a Priority mail Envelope, certified with return receipt: $8.30

The envelope was delivered yesterday - tracked on the internet- and it will take a while to receive the "green" return receipt as it is not "priority mail".
