IBM Software Helps NY State Recover $83 Million

The state of New York recovered $83 million in delinquent taxes in 2010, an increase of 8% over the previous year its Department of Taxation and Finance is attributing to the use of IBM data-analytics software.

You're out of the loop. I've heard of it every day ever since I started working in IT. Every employer I have ever worked for has been a major customer of their enterprise software.

They would know the hardware side today as "Lenovo."

Yeah IBM is not a big player in the consumer market anymore.

But it is still huge and very much a player.

For real. That's the people's money! IBM is helping the state steal it.

Is IBM still in business?

Yes and a major employer in the Burlington area. They are also the "landlord" for the USCIS Vermont Service Center. IBM has a huge complex in Essex Jct., for future expansion and currently rent many of the buildings. USCIS moved most of their adjudicators and much of their other staff there in 2008. They also still have the facility in St Albans where you probably sent your I-129f and I-751 but it is basically a mail room now.

I work in IT and deal with IBM on an almost daily basis. I can't say I'm a fan of their products but they do hold up to their end of the deal on the service side.
