Changing Last Name to Spouses First Name?

My spouse does not have a lastname. He is asking if in USA we are allowed to take the husband's first name? He has only his first name and his father's name at the end. Would I have to take his dad's name? Also, is it necessary to change my lastname before I file or can I do that later on into the process?

you can construct any LEGAL name change that the law allows...

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

No you do not need to change your nor you should. Keep your name as it will only complicate things in your case. I was the beneficiary but I did not change my name because I'm happy and proud of it. Keep you name please.
