How long after applying for passport were you able to check status online?

Hello VJ members,

My mom applied for her passport on 4/7/11 and I've been checking this website to check status but it keeps saying application not found. I am wondering how many days after applying did it take for everyone else to see and be able to track their passport application online? The website says 7-10 days and now I am thinking they meant business days.

On line status never worked for us, even copied and pasted the requested information directly off the application we sent in. When I spoke to the DOS, they tell me they don't fool with it. Even after we received the passport, they still can't find the application.

They tell you to call them if you haven't received your passport yet, and traveling within two weeks was a number sequence to bypass all those messages, but I forgot it. They did get me my passport the same day I was leaving, that was too damn close.

Visit www.TRAVEL.STATE.GOV Status will be available 5-7 business days after applying..

Just did that, stepdaughter applied over three weeks ago, believe that is 15 business days.

This is what I got:

Your passport application was not found. It is possible your application has not made it into our system yet.

01-15-10 Production Email Regarding the Green Card from USCIS

01-28-10 Green Card received from USCIS

US Citizenship

10-19-10 Mailed N-400 packet to Texas via Priority Mail

10-22-10 Packet was delivered after being forwarded to Dallas

10-27-10 Check was finally cashed by USCIS

10-30-10 I-797C Notice of Action (NOA) Received

11-02-10 RFE Text Message, and Email Received (Must be the Biometrics)

11-08-10 Biometrics Letter Received for 11/17/2010

11-17-10 Biometrics was done with in five minutes of reaching at 8:00am

12-06-10 Testing, and Interview email status received via email from USCIS with information to expect a letter shortly with appoinment time.

1-13-11 Interview Passed with form N-652 checked [box A] with congrats you have been recommended for finally approval.

1-13-11 USCIS JAX officer said the Oath letter will come in two or three months.

2-23-11 Oath Ceremony Letter was received for March 17th for 9am in the GNV Federal Court House

3-17-11 Oath Certificate was received at the oath ceremony, and appointment made for US passport for Monday 3-21-11.

Thanks AKS for the info. I wish they had just put a simple line on the website saying it's not available right now or something. I would have kept worrying if it wasn't for your response.

I love this statement:

"Note: If your information (last name, date of birth, and last four digits of your Social Security Number) matches more than one record in our database your record will not appear online."

If that is the reason, you really have major problems!

I had called the customer service yesterday after I read AKS post and i was told Mine is in processing stage. She told me to chk it online and i said the website is not working that was the reason I called!

So did anyone here ever get a status report on the DOS website. At any time? Or is it just me that never got that status report? That includes me, like eight years ago, my wife two years ago, and my stepdaughter today.

If this holds true, will be less than a month since we applied and saved 60 bucks for that expedient fee.

I checked mine today too and here is what it says for:

We are processing Routine Applications in approximately 4 to 6 weeks from the time of application.

The problem, people, is that the passport application locator number is like the fleet code of an extraterrestrial space ship. There's nowhere you could take it to tell you anything you'd like to know.
