Check this document www.rn.ca.gov/pdfs/applicants/exam-app.pdf

Since you are here in the USA, you need to do a Live Scan to get your finger print scanned. Check this link http://www.ag.ca.gov/fingerprints/publications/contact.php

Your school transcript and breakdown of educational program must come from the School where you graduated. It must be sealed.

So, since you are already here in the USA, you need special power of attorney to have someone process your transcript, breakdown of educational program, etc. Check this sample and modify it http://www.philippineslosangeles.org/uploads/pdfs/SPA.pdf

Just Call the California Board of Nursing, the will tell you and walk you thru everything you need to know. Don't make a mountian out of molehill. You are not the first person to have your transcript in maiden name and applying in your married name

My wife was only 20 when she applied for NCLEX, it's not that hard and would be best if you learn to be able to figure out your own solutions for your questions, it will help you in your nursing career...........

Best to contact the California BON http://www.rn.ca.gov/ That way you know your getting the correct info.

NCLEX can be a difficult exam, know some smart people that have failed it multiple times and I have know some morons that have passed with the minimum 75 questions. The key to passing is like anything else--studying! I took the Kaplan classroom course--Was ok! The keys to kaplan in my opinion was their Text book (can't buy it in stores--but you see them on EBAY for sale!!) And their online question bank! They do offer an online program as well- ands just the question bank too! Many NCLEX study books out their, Saunders puts out a good one! They say just do question after question. 1 prof said to do around 5000 before u attempt to take the Exam!

Here is an example on EBAY of the Kaplan course book http://cgi.ebay.com/NCLEX-RN-test-prep-book-Kaplan-nursing-14th-Ed-/200597462037?pt=US_Texbook_Education&hash=item2eb48a5c15#ht_500wt_1156

I think mine from 2009 was the 11th or 12th edition! I belive Nclex last changed the exam in Apr 2010--they update it every3-5 yrs. Best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Agreed. I sent my fiance a Saunder to study, and once she graduated and came to USA, I enrolled her in Kaplan NCLEX prep class that took 1 week, and it gave her the question banks and she said the question banks was a very helpful and Saunders was worth the read.

My wife took her NCLEX in 2009 as well and passed with 75 quesitons, she said the test was fairly easy for her

Good luck....

Doesn't really matter if NCLEX was easy for her or not,lol I work with Many Filipinos and many of them failed it,some numerous times, and they are excellent nurses! I believe the first time pass rate is in the middle to high 80's, which is pretty good. The key is studying.

1 thing I liked about Kaplan is their "decision tree" how to cross off the incorrect answers. 1 thing 1 has to remember with NCLEX--its nursing in a perfect situation, lol

Some do not like allnurses.com but it does have some good studying stuff in this forum: http://allnurses.com/nclex-discussion-forum/ really no different than off topic//religion here on VJ, some nice people and some morons!

It's the same thing with Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco exams, the study material (books, etc) are totally different during the exam time. You also need study materials with questions banks. The more questions banks the better. Practice taking the question banks until you make 100% on each of those practice question banks and you will have a chance of passing.

Some do not like allnurses.com

All Nurses International Section is horrible and they don't like Nurses from Philippines or US Husbands who fiance or wives are from Philippines.

They are jealous, I assume most of the nurses on that forum are overweight and hate life, but I have never seen so many people have so much jealousy toward nurses from Philippines.

I was RedRanger on that forum, I got tired of all the BS that the some ole hag name SilverDragon let go on there. If you ever on AllNurses post my pic on there in the international section.
