TO ADD: The reason I'm asking this is, We had a co sponsor secured and we feel now he don't want to go through with being the co sponsor so we're looking at all options. We're at the end of the road now :(

I personally think that this should be fine, but of course, I am giving my biased opinion since I am still best friends with my ex-husband and we see each other often because we have remained really good friends. Why can't people conceive of healthy break-ups? However, this is probably a very consulate-specific issue. Perhaps it would be important for you to consult with other petitioners with Egyptian beneficiaries who have already finished the process.

Best wishes! (F)

Remaining friends is one thing.. Signing a document that says you will be financially responsible for your ex-wife/ex-husbands current fiance/spouse for 10 years should they break up is over the line in my opinion. I would be taken aback if I was asked and would never ask anyone to take that type of risk for my relationship. The risk is big enough when you have everything to gain :)

Like many things with this process a lot depends on who ends up doing the interview and making the decision.. Will they simply be checking to see that you filled out the paperwork and met the requirements or will they find the fact it is your ex disturbing? They will either be like the previous poster and find it a non-issue or be like me.. You will never know for sure.

I don't believe it.. Prove it to me and I still won't believe it. -Ford Prefect

I advise against it. I have read posts here where the CO's get their panties in an uproar just because an ex's mail

still comes to the house ( however they figured that out ) so using one as a co sponsor definitely is a red flag.

My ex has no problem with being the co sponsor. I find it good for the soul to forgive and move on with life and all is the past. It's the concern I have with the consulate that bothers me. We're searching and hope all will go well with finding someone other than my ex. Thanks

I guess for some people it is difficult to imagine to extend such true friendship and trust to a person. Sad, in my opinion...

This is the question that has to be asked; "Why the heck would any man want to be financially on the hook for his ex-wife's new husband?" Most people would consider this setup very fishy.

Very strange. I am trying to imagine my ex wife coming to me and asking if I will be financially responsible for 10 years for her Egyptian fiance...um...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, bad dream.

I guess for some people it is difficult to imagine to extend such true friendship and trust to a person. Sad, in my opinion...

Cry for me.

aside from the fact that I think your ex is empty headed, do you understand that you are assigning your new husband to be's future to your ex husband? So he gets a bit apeeved at you and decides not to co-sponsor?

Personally I would not use a co-sponsor, not even my mother, and be beholden t someone for that anyway, I would rather get a part time job or whtever was necessary to raise my income. I would certainly never consider for one moment my ex spouse for a co-sponsor.

as far as the consulate goes...I would be very worried they would consider this a financail arrangement to promote visa fraud.
