Hello, I would like to ask everyone's opinion of using my Ex Husband to be my Fiance's Co Sponsor. Has anyone here done this before? And would there be a higher chance of being denied? Your thoughts on this please, Thanks

There would definitely be questions, but a lot will depend on the circumstances- how long were you divorced before meeting your fiance? Is your ex-husband from abroad also?

TO ADD: The reason I'm asking this is, We had a co sponsor secured and we feel now he don't want to go through with being the co sponsor so we're looking at all options. We're at the end of the road now :(

Yeah Kim, Hany discussed that with me. I told him that is a very bad idea. Big red flag...

by birth, or by naturalisation?

seriously, what you are talking about doing is way outside the norm, and looks "to a reasonable person" as unreasonable, barring external persuasion. you are dealing with a high fraud consulate that is extremely wary of all petitions. why stack the deck against yourself?

ya, that 'reasonable person' definition seems to be stretched. I say don't use the ex husband, at all.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

This is the question that has to be asked; "Why the heck would any man want to be financially on the hook for his ex-wife's new husband?" Most people would consider this setup very fishy.

"Desperate means call for desperate measures" When you have run out of people to help you, What do you do? As I see from comments it's not a good idea and that's all we wanted to know was the opinion of others. So it's settled It won't be happening. Thanks to all who responsed and Good Luck In Your Journey

I haven't heard anyone who had used an "ex" as a co-sponsor, but again, how many people are that friendly that an ex would agree to be one? Considering all the red flags there are normally, I don't see the big deal if you did use one.

All you can do is try, right? And if it does raise a red flag, being truthfull won't hurt. Perhaps it's so simple that it wouldn't cause a commotion???

This whole ordeal will raise some serious concerns on your case, is it highly unusual for an ex to agree to co-sponsor his ex-wife new husband, its like getting divorce to your Spouse and agree to be financially responsible for your ex-spouse's new Spouse. very few men specially in the US would agree to something like that.

What was the reason you guys divorced, if he's that friendly.

The big red flag that will come up is the possibility of divorce to be able to sponsor an immigrant and then after their aos, divorce and remarry the intial spouse. Not saying this is the case, but that is a common fraud scenario so that is one thing they will be thinking when they see your ex as the co-sponsor. Before doing this you better have lots of proof as to the situation and why the ex would be willing to do this (maybe a huge alimony that goes away on remarriage)

the biggest problem to me,doesnt seem like your ex husband, its the embassy youre going to have to deal with, egypt is in the high fraud/terrorist country list,so your fiance will definitely have to go through AP,with bringing the ex husband as co sponsor up,you raise your chances of denial.
