K1 Visa Vancouver - Application fee

Hey guys! So I just got scheduled an interview for May 5th. woohoo . I had to pay an MRV fee, $350, to book the interview....do I also have to pay a $350 visa application fee, or is that it now? They sure want a lot of money from us. I was under the impressions that the MRV fee was for the interview and the visa, but afterwards, in the information about what to bring to the interview, it says "The visa application fee is determined by the type of visa for which the applicant is applying. Based on the information that the applicant has provided, the visa being applied for is a Fiancé (K) visa. The fee is the equivalent of USD$350."

For now its all you pay, after entering the US on K-1 and marrying you have to pay 1070$ for AOS! yuck!!

Haha yeah I knew about the AOS :S. I was just wondering because I had to pay before I booked an interview, but in the reviews, I see people saying that they had to go to the cashier and pay...so I am wondering why they had to pay there and not when they booked?

off topic, but is it unusual that you didn't have an interview before being approved for AOS?

This new scheduling online thing is changing a lot of stuff.... when I booked my K-1 interview online, it was back in November when the system was still new, so I didn't have to pay, but from what I hear, the system won't let you schedule now unless you pay.

And, it is reasonably common to have your AOS approved without an interview It's probably greater than a 50% chance, but it's not 100% sure you'll have an interview!

Yea back when I did my interview we had to pay in cash at the consul in Montreal. Now its all done online, I would of preferred that because I totally didn't feel safe carrying around large sum of money.

For my AOS, I kind of front loaded the packet I sent. I sent them EVERYTHING! all my evidence I had from pictures to moving here to pictures from our court wedding to my DL and my SSN and 3 affidavits from people, congratulations cards, bank cards, shared bank account papers, shared credit card, allllllllllll kinds of stuff.

Most people will say you don't need any of that but I figured, give them everything they need to do it NOW so they don't come asking later and make it take longer! Really didn't want an interview. We waited about a month to send off the AOS stuff so we could collect everything and get all my ID and SSN and stuff together.

When I did my interview (Vancouver, 2009), the consulate sent me a triplet of preprinted special ScotiaBank deposit slips. I had to go to a local ScotiaBank location, make the payment (US Cash, I seem to recall, but I could be wrong). They filled out and kept one of the slips, and I had to bring the other two to the interview.

Doing this was part of the Packet 3 checklist. The checklist said you had to do this before they would give you an interview date, but I wrote on the checklist I faxed back that I would do it once the date was arranged [per some advice I read here]. They said they weren't fussy about the timing as long as I had the stamped slips at the interview.

Just so everyone knows for sure, I emailed Vancouver and asked them the question. The $350 online fee is the only fee. I just have to bring them my receipt, to prove I paid I guess.

I also paid online but then when I got my Packet 3 (or 4?) in the mail, the instructions said they only accepted cash in person at the interview. Immediately underneath, in bold, the page reminded readers that payments could be made in cash or with a credit card... I guess it's about time they updated their paperwork.
