OK, I didn't fly to New York (I flew into Philadelphia) but I can't imagine it being much different - I was traveling alone, there were no problems at all. There's nothing to pay at POE either. Be prepared to be sent to secondary inspection, I don't know if all airports do that but I was sent there with my K-1 which they said is standard at Philadelphia. Don't worry, you'll be fine! :star:

JFK is probably easier than Philly. I'm a US citizen and I was questioned for 5 minutes at POE after a week long trip to Madrid and back. Then completely unrelated my bags were all searched by a security officer. I've flown into JFK from overseas a few times and they don't hassle people like that. Maybe because their too busy or just much more used to foreigners coming through. I'll never transfer in Philly ever again.
