We got our approval last week and our petition went straight to the Embassy

Is this normal? I thought that it went to the NVC first then on to the Embassy, when I called the NVC today he asked what the NOA2 stated to which I then realized that it states it was forwarded to the Embassy.

I have been trying to find out if the Embassy has received the petition and what our case number is but I have not been able to get a response

any ideas!! help etc where to call to get the case number?

Call DOS and ask where your petition is. It's either at NVC or has already been there and has been sent to the embassy. It didn't skip the NVC part.

Hi, As far as I know everyone's letter says it's being forwarded to their embassy. But, It really goes to NVC. Call NVC again ask them if your case is there They should give you a new case number. It may have left NVC but you need to ask them that. You can call your embassy to see if it's there after you see if it's been sent there. Good Luck :)

********************************************************************************************

i got confused too and actually asked the same question here on vj afew days ago.

i called NVC 2 days later at 8:00Am (their opening time) and after going through afew options i got through to a Human operator, a very nice lady(professionally well customer versed) then she asked me the Following; INFO ON NOA2 Notice of Action-Approval..for confirmation !

Receipt number: from Uscis....for example EAC XXXXXXXXXX

Petitioners name and date of birth?

Benefeciary's name and date of birth.

She then read for me our CASE NUMBER and gave me a tracking number for my packet that is due to arrive at embassy SOON!  .

she also explained that USCIS says that the "approved petition is sent to embassy" which indirectly means that it has to go through NVC then finally to your Embassy. that's the standard procedure.

i suggest you do the same and have your NOA2 at hand when you do. i was shocked at how fast we got our case number....some petitions take forever..oh well every one has their lucky day

Good luck

Nope I'm just going around in circles I call the NVC they have told me to call the USCIS and the Embassy to which I get nothing but normal spiel and I see people here saying that they call within 2 or 3 days and they get their case number

I have called the USCIS twice to only be told to call the NVC and called the NVC to only be given the spiel that it takes 2 weeks or longer or to call the USCIS

I did speak to a tier 2 officer at the USCIS but that was not really productive but she said that they should send me an e-mail about it now I an getting discouraged because it appears that my petition was sent to the Embassy but the embassy cant give me any information till next week between the hours of 2 and 4 on Wednesday Yeah a whole week to wait now to get anymore information

Now I'm worried NVC has no record of it they just say wait till we get it which means it probably went to embassy and has to go through customs and then they have to look at it and say that it has to go back to the NVC and then there for who knows how long a big circle for nothing ( speculation )

All when others on this site have gotten their case numbers in days I now will probably be waiting for months for them to find it or eventually be lost and have to start all over again because of someones screw up

This is turning out to be frustrating

Our approved petition didn't arrive at the NVC for 3 weeks after the NOA2 date - we had the same situation as you, the NVC didn't have it and USCIS said it could stay with them for up to 90 days before being forwarded to the NVC. Try not to worry about it, it's probably just been delayed for no real reason and I'm sure it'll be with the NVC soon. It won't have been sent directly to the embassy without first going to the NVC so don't worry about that bit.

I know it's really frustrating but wait another week and then call the NVC again - it could be on its way there now. We also found the time between USCIS and NVC frustrating, so I know how you feel. Try to be patient and it will be where it needs to be soon!

Try calling the Department of State (NVC is a part of the Department) at 202 663-1225. Do not use the automated system as it will not have information on K-1 visas. When you speak to a human, ask the visa specialist for the case number and the date that it was received at NVC as well as the date the at it left NVC. If still feeling courageous, ask them whether it has been received at the embassy and then if the package has been sent to the beneficiary yet.

I would still call NVC EVERYDAY till you get something. No one at either office seems to have a clue most of the time. I've heard it can take long between uscis and nvc so don't freak out or believe the worst yet. If you click on the link to "embassy info" above and look at colombia's it give A LOT of information as to what to do step by step from the point you are currently. And lots of fun phone numbers to try. I just got my approval 2 days ago and fully intend to start calling NVC every single day till it gets there and moves on to Bogota. Good luck!!

ALL, (that means ALL) petitions go to tNVC regardless of what the form letter from another department says. None (that means NONE) go "straight to the embassy"

Oh Well!!!!

Frustration is caused by unrealistc expectations. This is not Fedex, you cannot just find out where your package is at any moment. NVC will get it and process it like everyone else's and you will get a notice from them when they have sent it to the consulate. Until then you are beating your head against the wall trying to find information no one has any interest in giving you.

You are also finding ut that the NOA2 is not the end, it is not even the middle. We waited longer from NOA2 to interview than for the NOA2 itself. Your results could vary
