I just got off the phone with an officer from USCIS..

I was asking about my case.. This is only the third time I ever called and the first time in the last 3 months.. I saw my status update online at 3-22-11.

He said he saw an audit on my petition April 8th.. He said an audit is to see that all the documentation is there.. This makes no sense. I thought this was done when the initially received the petition.. I guess online update has not adjusted when I log into my account..

He said I would receive in the mail a status update.. What is the purpose of a status update... My priority date was 29th Novemember and he said they would send a status update April 29th...

I assume they are working on my petition and what I worry about is an RFE..

USCIS officer also said he can't see what is actually going on with my case, because this is out of California Service Center..

I am a little perplexed.. by audit lol it's not a reassuring word in most cases...

I wouldn't worry about them saying audit. Actually I would consider it a good thing. If they are auditing to see if all the documents are there then your case is being worked on by someone. RFE's while annoying, often aren't a big problem. Usually it is a signature or some document missing (I forgot to include my divorce papers) and as long as you respond promptly with the missing info it shouldn't cause any major delay. Our petition was approved very quickly after I sent the missing papers.

Hang in there, the end is in sight for you it seems

I thought odd was the status update they would mail April 29th.. The USCIS officers I assume can see very little about the petitions..
