I-864 need to be notarized?

I know someone has already posted about this (Zyggy, perhaps?), but I'm doing some last minute organizing and saw that we never had our I-864 notarized. My husband leaves for his interview Thursday morning, so we still have time to get it notarized tomorrow, if need-be. I'm remembering something about how nothing needs to be notarized anymore, but to be sure, do we need to do this?

I'd do it anyways just to be safe, would really suck if you didn't and then they say it needed to be.

I am pretty sure that you don't need to get it notorized (atleast that is the answer I got on the AOS forum from other VJers) ...

I never got mine notorized but I just got my AOS NOA1 so they haven't had a chance to go through my package ...

The new forms don't indicate notary required, but I would have it notarized, just go to your bank they should have a notary there if not they will tell you which branch office dose.

It should not cost you any thing at the bank. And better to over do than under do.

Is the I-864 and I-864A required to be notarized?

No. The sponsor just has to sign the I-864. You should know however, when the sponsor signs the Form I-864 he/she certifies that the information provided, transcript and/or photocopy of tax documentation is true and correct, under penalty of perjury.

The new I-864 does not need to be notarized... if it did, it could be done at the consulate as long as the sponsor was there.

Well, I did it just to be safe. We got the old I-864 in our packet (from 1997!?!?), and figured it couldn't be a bad thing to get it notarized, if even just for peace of mind.
