Hi Please I need help here.. I am sure you receive this question like 1 million tims.. But I need to ask:

I live in Pa and I am going to apply for the k1 for my fiance who is from Ivory Coast:

1) I am supposed to send it to the Dallas address right? Why do they give another address for courrier delivery? Should I send to the other address? (Is it faster?)Which address is faster from your experience?

2) Because of the situation in Ivory Coast right now, my fiance is not there. He is in a neighboring country. Could he apply from there?? What are the requirements to use an embassy which is not your country of nationality to go through the K1 process? What does he have to show to be accepted to file from that other country?

Please please, let me know as soon as you can.. It takes so long to get paperwork sent from where he is.. I want to be able to start ASAP...

Thank you!.

Best,

All I-129F applications go to the Dallas Lockbox and are then forwarded to the service center that covers the region of the country you live in, either California or Vermont.

Not sure about your question 2.

PS your profile says you filed for naturalization its a bit confusing based on your post. Good luck.

Thanks for your reply!..

Yes, I am currently filing for my naturalization and I am in the final stages. I am going to file a i-129F for my fiance AS SOON AS I get my naturalization certificate so I am preparing for that so that everything can be ready before my oath.

I hope it is a bit more clear.

So can my fiance file from the country where he lives right now or should he file from Ivory Coast. And I can file for him using another embassy, what paperwork do I need to provide so that they accept his petition in that other embassy?

Thank you so much for your help.

Also, I am really confused now, some places say: If you live in the US, send your application in Dallas Lockbox, other places say " If you live in Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, U.S. Virgin Islands, West Virginia and the District of Columbia, send your Form I-129F package to:

USCIS Vermont Service Center

Attn: I-129F

75 Lower Welden Street St.

Albans, VT 05479-0001"

So what is it?? Dallas or Vermont?

And in the fiance's letter of intent, what do I put?? Vermont or Dallas???..

Please help me... My fiance needs to send me the documents and we are waiting on this information to put on the letter of intent so that he can send me some documents I need from him.

Please please, respond..

Thank you.

Everybody now sends to the Dallas lockbox.

It will then be forwarded to VT to CA, respectively.

It used to be that you would send directly to the Service Centre.

To answer your other question, there is a question on the I-129F which asks you to write the location of the embassy you'd like to use. I've never heard of someone not being allowed to interview at another embassy. Is his current address in the neighboring country? Then I don't see a problem. :) USCIS had no problem with my fiancé interviewing in Kuala Lumpur.

Best of luck!

Your fiance can interview in any country in which they legally reside. If they are only there with a visitor's visa then they need to return to their home country.

They give two different addresses for sending your petition package because it's easier for them to receive mail at their PO box, but some private couriers (like Fedex and UPS) won't normally deliver to a PO box, especially if a signature is required. It will be faster if you pay for expedited shipping, but once it arrives, either at the PO box or the address in Lewisville, it will get processed into the system in about the same amount of time.

Make sure that none of the forms you prepare are signed and dated BEFORE the date on your certificate of naturalization.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!

Thanks so much!..

Especially for the dates on the forms.. But the letters from my family members stating that they know that the relationship between my fiance and is bona fide can't be dates prior to my certification right? (Just not the i-129f, the G-325A and the teh letter of intent should not be dates prior to the naturalization certification right?)

Thanks for those precious info!>

Best,

No problem if any evidence is dated before the date you become a citizen. It probably wouldn't be a problem for some of the forms either, such as the G-325A, but I wouldn't risk it personally. It would definitely be a problem for a petition form like the I-129F. You have to be eligible on the day you sign that form.
