Corporate America being too fond of cheap illegal labour is different than the economy not being able to stand a mass deportation of illegal agriculture, meatpacking and Walmart workers. It's that attitude that leads to an entitlement mentality amongst the young and uneducated, because whilst "some Pedro" is doing that work, they see thamselves as being somehow privileged and entitled to a "more suitable occupation".

Slightly off-topic, I know, but irritating nonetheless.

still a good point though. i just love how kids today think they have the right to entitlement without working for it. and if they do work for it, they believe they have the right to instantly make as much as someone who's been with the company for 10+ years :P

So today I went to traffic court to pay my speeding ticket. When the judge briefed the court he stated that anyone in the court that was "undocumented or out of status as far as immigration" may not want to plead guilty or nolo to speeding tickets as any conviction could affect their situation in the USA.

WHAT the hell! So you are telling me that you have an illegal alien in your court and in virtual custody, who is most likely driving without insurance, a driver's license, with a stolen identity, and here in the USA illegally is going to be coaxed in to how not to be deported. Unfuckingreal.

Illegal Immigration and Immigration reform is just bullshit and lies.

Wow. So sad.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

And I am old enough to have personally witness the "mother of all lies"...the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (a.k.a.: Simpson-Mazzoli Act). Most that voted for it that are still in Congress regret the mistake and refused to vote for the US Senate's latest amnesty in the form of S.2611. With the exception of Teddy Kennedy. IMO any immigration reform that he endorses is a huge mistake and he had a big hand in IRCA 1986. Here is an idiot that predicted that even the weak employer sanctions against illegals in IRCA 1986 would result in widespread discrimination of Hispanics. What a moron!

As long as there are idiots running our country that believe that requiring everyone to prove citizenship to vote or to register to vote is too much of a burden (sad but true). Or that anyone can come to America by whatever (illegal) means, in unlimited numbers, and can do anything they want to without any consequenses...this country will continue to go to hell in a breadbasket. The bar will just keeps getting lowered until any and everyone can jump over it into the mud.

Yes, illegal alien citizenship for sale for $2000. Are we up to our necks in mud yet?

BTW...2 weeks ago I was chosen to sit in on a traffic ticket jury in Houston. The taxpayer had to pay for a certified court appointed translator especially for this guy. If these folks can afford to buy cars, insurance, driver's license fees, etc., maybe they should have to pay for their own translators when they #### up.

Is this your vision of America Teddy?

Unfuckingreal!

Local authorities dont enforce Federal law. Sometimes the police pick em up, call the Border Patrol and they never show up as they have better things to do. Gotta kick em loose after 3 days. So the locals dont even bother.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

The real reason illegal immigration will never stop is because if the illegal aliens went away, the entire economy would collapse due to the fact that there wouldn't be any below minimum wage workers to work in the massive agriculture industry in this country.

Very liberal. To say some idiocy, but not to have any doubts in it.

Entre economy will collapse. How do yuo know???

Try this: go to Japan and look at how much produce costs there. Expensive, isn't it? That's because they don't have lots of illegal aliens picking crops for them. Imagine if we did boot out the 10 million+ illegals in this country. Who's going to pick the crops? You say, Americans will. Well, how much would YOU have to be paid to work in the fields? $15/hour? $20? I know they'd have to pay me WAY more than that. Illegals are already paid around $10/hour to pick crops. What do you think that will do to produce prices here? They'd skyrocket. Except for the produce we get from places like Chile. And Mexico. We'd end up getting most or all of our produce from imports. So, by ending illegal immigration, we'd destroy our agricultural industry and cripple our economy.

I don't like it that we need illegals to pick our crops or mow our lawns, but fact is American citizens won't do those jobs. Hell, as soon as illegals become legal they won't do it either! But what you want isn't a solution. I don't know what the solution is, but just getting rid of illegal aliens won't work.

it should also be mentioned that land is expensive in japan.....and that probably reflects in the price of said produce too. ;)

And then there are "sanctuary cities" like Houston, L.A., etc. that prohibit police and city officials from inquiring about the immigration status of individuals they come into contact with in the course of their duties. No wonder my city is a magnet for these people and all the negative consequenses they bring. Too bad the corrupt business comunity that profits from this institutional corruption doesn't tolerate this sh*t in their own communities.

Just another example of the "race to the bottom" mentality.

Is it any wonder that we get what we tolerate? Communities (and countries) that have zero tolerance for illegal immigrants don't have major problems with it. Make it impossible for illegals to work, thrive, and survive. Then they will stay home, return home, or find another place to go.

This constant whining about mass deportations and round ups is absurd. When they cannot easily live here illegally...they will go somewhwere else.

Lets look at Japan again. They are a country with NO illegal immigration problem. They also are a country whose population is shrinking. A report in the paper(Sacramento Bee) the other day(sorry, no link) was talking about how Japan will not be able to keep growing economically because it will not have to population to keep pushing it. The article also pointed out that the US of A will be the only developed country to keep growing economically becuase of its population growth. Population growth that will continue to grow in part due to immigration(note: all immigration, not just legal as some of you like to point out).

So, really, despite some ppls claims of "race to the bottom" mentaility, the US of A will be doing just fine thank you very much.

But what you want isn't a solution. I don't know what the solution is, but just getting rid of illegal aliens won't work.

That is bullsh*t! There were roughly 3 million illegal aliens amnestied in 1986. Now there are 12 to 20 million...and they are all picking strawberries?

And besides...the native population of America has not exploded at even close to the rate of illegals. This is a self feeding trend that explodes on itself. This country went decades without any appreciable immigration (legal or illegal) and we survived quite well.

This is just a way for the rich to get even richer at a faster rate. I don't buy this doom and gloom scenario that we must legalize these millions and increase legal immigration to levels unheard of in history as per S. 2611 that the US Senate has proposed. This does nothing good for the vast majority of Americans and lowers the overall quality of our lives. It is just a wet dream for corporate America to ram down our throats for their own selfish benefit at our expense.

So what if the average American won't have as much discreationary income to spend on toys. Our money should stay at home and circulate. Instead the deficits keep mounting into the stratosphere and the illegals don't help matters by send billions out of our economy.

I never really bought into the other stupid propoganda notion of "trickle down" economics either. The rich keep getting richer and everyone else in America is losing ground. How about an American economy that serves the needs of the American people. Is it too much to ask for economic justice for citizens of America?

America has lost its direction and our politicians lack true leadership to work for the American people (their constituents). Instead we have the best government that money can buy.

And BTW...Japan has not dried up and blown away! It is still a prosperous democracy!

personally, i don't buy the collapsing economy either. it's more like a sky is gonna fall campaign that really didn't materialize during that march they had. even if a majority of the illegals are involved in agriculture (which i don't believe) there will be people to take their place. and i'd rather see a rise in food prices than a skyrocketing health care cost as i'm quite convinced that the reason so many hospitals are going broke is due to illegals not paying their medical costs (reference that hospital in los angeles that had to close due to many millions owed to it by illegals).

also, if there is a worker shortage, as some have claimed, would that not mean more competition between corporations for workers and the usc getting a decent wage for a change? i'm quite baffled that so many believe in giving amnesty to illegals (tried once and it was a flop) and now we're looking at doing the same thing again to 6-7 times the number? when will we stop, when all of mexico is here?

Japan = worst possible example for any kind of immigration argument. Limited land to grow food and they are an island. Wait.... Antartica is actually worse.. forgive me ;)

Have you ever wondered why the 2 countries (China & India) with some of the fastest growing GDP have the fastest growing (per capita) illegal population in America. There is more to "quality of life" than the worshipers of GDP would have us all believe.

IMO our leaders should stop trying to run America as USA Inc. and begin to get back to the basics of an American economy that serves the needs of the American people for the American people.

Yes...America has lost its direction and this failure to control illegal immigration is just another manifestation of the worshipers of GDP. I'm tired of listening to their bullsh*t and seeing the results of it. We need change and we needed it yesterday!

I wish I was scholarly enough to put numbers to it, but I'm just a working man. But I don't like what I see or like the direction it is heading.

To all of you who claim we need illegal immigrants to do the work that no one want to, try this:

Inez and Antonio Valenzuela are a marketer's dream. Young, upwardly mobile, and ready to spend on their growing family, the Los Angeles couple in many ways reflects the 42 million Hispanics in the U.S. Age 30 and 29, respectively, with two daughters, Esmeralda, 8, and Maria Luisa, 2 months, the duo puts in long hours, working 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., six days a week, at their bustling streetside taco trailer. From a small sidewalk stand less than two years ago, they built the business into a hot destination for hungry commuters. The Valenzuelas (not their real name) bring in revenue well above the U.S. household average of $43,000, making them a solidly middle-class family that any U.S. consumer-products company would love to reach.

Yes, we probably would not run a successful taco trailer but would we starve? I somehow doubt it! What is worse, look how much they earn! Most likely tax free! For your information these trailers are popping up all over my part of Tucson and I wonder about them!

Granted this is JUST 2 of millions but to claim they ALL take jobs no one will do is rediculous, they make their own jobs and probably use the healthcare system for free since the earnings are probably not reported (official).

Ok, I'm done ranting for now!

wow, are you always like this? i'll give you one thing: you sure know how to be mad.

God bless America.

:energetic:

daniel, don't you think being an island is the reason they don't have an illegal immigration problem?

Japan = worst possible example for any kind of immigration argument. Limited land to grow food and they are an island. Wait.... Antartica is actually worse.. forgive me ;)

shouting: Amnesty for Penguins!

Peejay, China also has emigrants moving to Russia as well. Russia has a HUGE illegal immigration problem also but in Russia you MUST learn Russian!
