When I do my RnR this fall, we were thinking about going to Bohol and maybe Pamilacan island for a week or so. Any advice about Bohol? Any good places to stay on Pamilacan island that are reasonable?

Thanks!

We went to Bohol last month and stayed there for a week - hubby's second time and my fourth. We just love the place. We stayed on Alona Beach area. You can find the whitest beach there. I recommend staying at Isis Bungalows and try their Thai Food. It's the best in the island! You can snorkel at Balicasag Island just don't buy in to the boat drivers who will sell you almost everything. You can rent a private boat for just the two of you for only 1,200 pesos and that's all in. Balicasag Island snorkeling, island hopping, dolphin watching, and don't miss Virgin Island! It's breath taking!

When i went to Pamilacan Island a few years back... there wasnt any hotel there... but there is one in Balicasag Island... but with google help i learned that they recently have a hotel built to cater tourist, its the Pueblo de Pamilacan Island Resort.

If you wanna stay in the the island... i dont suggest staying long in either Balicasag or Pamilacan and suggest to stay in Panglao area... Have fun!!!

Hi, me and my hubby went to Bohol last December. We stayed in Panglao Beach Resort and Nature Spa. I recommend to you the place, its actually like a honeymoon for us. The resort is exclusive, they have there a cave there, which is so amazing, the cave has water where you can swim. Buffet breakfast and buffet dinner at their breath taking beach view spot.. I love this place!! We've been island hoping to, like Alona, Isis and Pamilacan but this place is really so amazing!! If you want an exclusive resort that is beautiful and a shore that just you 2 are there plus a very good accomodating staff providing you all the things that you need. its a place for you. I also love their rooms!!!

Itinerary is like this: (you mention you've been there but not sure if you tried the tour around Bohol, we got lots of beautiful pictures there!!! my hubby loved the places)

Dec 17-explore the Panglao beach, they have the small island in the middle of the water which you can reach just by walking. soooo white beach and exclusive.

Dec 18-tour around Bohol, (Chocolate Hills, hanging bridge, churches, tarsier encounter, Cambagat Cave, Loboc Cruise (floating restaurant with all you can eat Filipino foods with seranade) all in one day. you can hire a car for around 1,500 pesos to get into these places

Dec 19-Butterfly sanctuary, hinagdanan bridge, man made forest, bee farm, biggest captive phyton (there are many good places to go there)again, its only 1,200 just to hire a car and to go to these places.

Dec 20-my hubby proposed to me, the most beautiful sunrise I have ever seen my entire life.

if you want to check it out, here is their website: http://www.panglaoisland.com/

We never get tired of reminding each other that our love is stronger than anything else..Jay&Cici

Did the Bohol and Panglo trip a couple of years ago. Tourist place and hotels were around 5,000 pesos per night, Beach was a little above average compared to most PI beaches. I only spent 3 days there, I just felt like it was too much of a tourist place and over rated.

If you want a Kick ####### beach and still have a non tourist trap place try Palawan (Hotels are still expensive, but best beach I have found in PI). They have white sugar sand and nice waves to play in. We stayed in Sheridan Hotel they were running a special for 5,400 peso per night, you could walk down the beach 400 yards and find Sari Sari stores with cheap food and drinks and not have to buy from the hotel.

If you want a cheap vacation with a kick ####### beach, reasonable hotel, and no tourist (Still relatively unknown) and for the money and view and things to do I would say go to Camigiun Island.

They have all kind of things to do, Rent a motorbike for you and your fiance/wife for 500 peso per 24 hours, go check out Soda Springs, Hot Springs, Cold Springs, Ride to the top of the Volcano, Check out sunken Cemetery, it will keep you entertained for days plus it's dirt cheap there.

We stayed here last time, great place with great food and priced right. You can usually negotiate price down from posted price. http://www.camiguinisland.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi

A couple of trips ago we went to Bohol/Panglo and Camigiun Island on the same trip, I would rate Camiguin as a much better deal and hands down a better choice for entertainment

http://camiguin.islandsphilippines.com/resorts_hotels.php

Stay flexible in the Philippines, don't book a place for more than a day or two, If you like it stay longer, if you don't move on to another place, that's how I roll in PI.......

Wow, very nice blog, LJ, salamat po for sharing! So were you happy with where you stayed? It sounds a lot cheaper than the Panglao Island Nature Resort and Spa. I don't necessarily want very expensive place to stay, cuz I plan to be outside most of the time, between Bohol tours (Choco hills and Tarsiers are a MUST), plus some SCUBA diving and dolphin/whale watching.

Overall, it looks like a very beautiful place to stay!

Walang anuman Daven!

Yes it is way affordable than Panglao Nature Resort and Spa esp if you avail of their packages. Just in time for the rainy season (fall season in the US). They have decent and clean rooms, not the high-end type though but you have the basics (nice bed, a bathroom with shower, towels, fridge, tv and aircon). They also have a swimming pool (a bit small compared to other resorts), their food is delicious and if you're after a nice shoreline just a few feet away is Bohol Beach Club (high end resort) you can pay 300 pesos as entrance fee 150 goes to the use of their huge pool and 150 for food if you want to try BBC's menu (but food there is bad.) LoL! Don't eat there. :)

I agree, don't splurge on the accommodation if you will be out most of the time. We spent most of our budget on the tours ( we had at least 3 tours) the city tour (inc the Loboc boat ride/tarsiers/Choco Hills/man-made forest/butterfly sanctuary), the island hopping tour and the adventure tour (zipline/zoos/churches).

If you need any help just let me know. It's my dream to have my own travel and tours company . :)

I've been wanting to try this place ever since I stumbled upon it online:

http://www.amoritaresort.com/

It's out on that island. Private cottages, each with a private mini pool. The mini pools either have their own fenced-in garden or face the ocean on the bluff. (They have regular rooms too, but I'm not really interested in those, hehehe.)

Here are more pictures and links.

Cute place,Kevin, but at $350 per night for an ocean villa, I think I can do better for lodging, lol. That place is expensive! But it does look beautiful...

Yeah, I hear ya. One of those things to save up for. :) Only $230/night for a garden view unit June through September though. I'd actually prefer the garden view for greater privacy on the deck and in the mini-pool.

Yeah, but I am forced to go in October, due to the sand around me now. :crying: But I am sure one of the less-expensive villas there will suffice. As TCO said, book a night or two, show up, look around, and be willing to move. Maybe one night there would be not-so-bad, eh?

Thanks again to all for the input!

WE had our honeymoon in Bohol.

We stayed at the Bohol tropics which is right next to the pier.

There are many beautiful & reasonable hotels in Bohol.

There are many beautiful places to visit in Bohol & the surrounding areas and the hotel that you stay in can arrange a tour for you. Our hotel arrange a tour of The Chocolate Hills, Man made forest, Loboc boat ride, tarsiers, butterfly sanctuary and a few other places.
