I have a question about the I-134 supporting evidence. It says that the last tax return is only necessary if you are self-employed. I have my last tax return but it doesn't help my case any. I currently make well over the poverty line, have a signed letter from my employer, my pay stubs for the past six months, and bank letters. However, last year I was a graduate student and didn't make much money, so the tax return will not accurately reflect my current situation. From what I see it is not required, and if it doesn't help, shouldn't I just leave it out? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

You still need to send a copy of last years return, if the done get there will just send you an RFE requesting it and it will hold things up.

You will also have to send them copies of the past 6 months pay stubs and letter from employer, they look at every thing as a whole.

More documentation is better than less!

You don't want your fiancee going to the visa interview only to have the CO ask her for what you did not send or bring.

You don't get RFE's from the consulate. You get RFEs from USCIS.

Some documents, according to the instructions on I-134, are only to be brought by those who are self-employed, but some consulates/embassies do make a point in seeing them anyway.

Contact the embassy and ask them which documents you should bring.

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

What one needs to supply is not only dependent on the consulate but also the individual circumstances. If you are unable to show this, then perhaps you should seek out a family member who is prepared to complete an I-134 as well. Seek out others that have also gone through the same consulate as to what is actually required as consulates do vary.
