Dear All,

My fiancee finally arrived at SFO yesterday. In Ho Chi Minh, she received her TD and MMR vaccinations on 2/15. She thinks she needs a second round on 4/16. In the US, I thought the TD/MMR vaccinations were a one-time shot not in intervals.

Anyone aware of this?

Thank you.

Thuy had to get 3 rounds of one vaccination.. she got two in VN and the third here along with another... The CS will know what she needs when she goes to get him to sign off on the medical...

Look at the yellow paper they gave her at the consulate...

Thank you, Scott. I have the yellow paper but it is unclear and just shows the date of the two shots and not when or what else she needs. We will go to the CS.

My bad.. it wasnt the yellow paper but the Vaccination Documentation Worksheet that will help you... look for anything in the Insufficient time interval column or the not routinely available column... that will let you know what is outstanding... The local health department may be cheaper than the CS when it comes to the vaccinations.... but the forms will still nedd to be done by a CS..

Thanks.

I thought it was strange too that only those two shots were given and listed. I'm going to bring all the papers to the doctors office for them to decipher for me.

As you guys already know, Words can't explain how happy it is to have her here. Now I can overwhelm her with my family as she did with me in Vietnam.

ummm my fiancee appt is may 4th... she needs those medical shots also. how do you know what she needs and where to get them. we did not get instruction on with the P4.

she is going to IOM or Cho Ray today/friday to get an appointment for medical.

any advices would be helpful

They will give her the vaccinations they can at the medical appointment.. She will likely have another round or two to get (most do).. Thuy had 3 rounds total... They will know what she needs at the medical.. They will give her a form Vaccination Documentation Worksheet that has two sections... Section 1 has a list of the vaccinations checking off what is needed.. section two has a few checkboxes on it.. Vaccine history complete is the best of the three options.. If it says incomplete, then the CS will need to administer vaccination in the states, or it could be done in VN if there is sufficient time between the vaccinations, or you could get them done at another doctor or health dept in the states.. there is nothing thats says the CS must administer the additional rounds in the US.. But the CS must sign off on the Vaccination worksheet to submit with the AOS documentation...

Dont let the CS screw you over.. They will take advantage of you if they can... I have read horror stories about the amounts charged and in some cases just to transcribe the record and fill out a form...

I am glad you make this thread. I have a similar question.

My wife needs to do a 2nd round too. They schedule for June 11th but our interview is next week. So, I guess she will get her vaccination in the state. In any case, we will try to do it in Vietnam because it is cheaper.

BTW, Scott, what is CS?

CS is Civil Surgeon... Yes she can get the follow up vaccinations done in the US... With a CR1 you wont be in a rush to get them... but they still need to be addressed... K1 requires the CS to sign off on the vaccinations...
