My citizenship interview

So I had my interview yesterday. I'd like to share my experience.

There was a woman observing the guy who was interviewing me, it looked like he was in training.

He started with the civics test. The questions were:

- Name one war in the 1900s

- What month do we vote for president

- What's the name of the Chief Justice of the USA

- Who was the first President

- How many members are there in the House of Representatives

- How many years are in a representatives term?

I got them all right so he stopped. Otherwise he'd continue, I guess he had 10 questions and I needed 6 correct answers.

Then I had to read "George Washington was the first president" and also spell that.

Then he went through my entire paperwork, asking me all the questions asked on N-400.

The only thing we did wrong in the application was add Charles' daughter when asked information about children, it should've been just my biological child.

I said yes on the question "Have you ever been arrested, cited or detained by any law enforcement officer for any reason" because I've had 2 traffic tickets since I've been to the States, that were paid, a failure to do a complete stop at a stop sign ticket and a speeding ticket. I brought evidence those tickets were paid, as requested by them in letter prior to the interview.

In the end he said "I cannot make a decision at this moment, we'll review your file, make sure everything is correct and we'll get in contact".

I'm wondering if he said that because he's in training and is not allowed to make a decision or because I said yes on that question and they need to investigate something.

Anyway, it was real easy, we were in and out in 20 minutes.

First of all congrats on passing. Had the same experience. A decision could not be made but a week later got my oath letter . U should get it soon. Good luck

I hope your oath letter gets soon (we've seen a lot of these cases lately, eh?).

About your hubby's daughter you guys added to the form, we also did that with my hubby's daughters because the instructions clearly says "include stepchildren" too. That's weird they said you should haven't put her name there.

Is today your baby Ben's birthday (I see the date above his cute picture). Happy b-day to him.

They made you spell the sentence??? That's wierd because getting the spelling wrong doesn't go against you (as long as it resembles the words).

I also included my step-daughter (only the one who was younger than 18 when I married, not the adult ones) on my N400.

Got the letter on the mail. It was real fast. Oath ceremony on the 13th.

So are we or are we not supposed to include stepchildren? The instructions say it but from the sound of this interview do they mean only biological children?
