Good thinking. I took out two months of insurance from these guys:

This is great! I'm going to look into it this evening. My wife has been w/o insurance since Jan and even though we've been married for over 2 months and she has her SSN, my insurance (or any of the new companies where I was looking) wouldn't let me add her until she has her GC. It could be a few more months until that happens...

N-400

Feb. 12, 2016 - Sent N-400 to USCIS (3-year rule)

Feb. 19, 2016 - NOA1

Mar. 14, 2016 - Biometrics

June 2, 2016 - Interview - Recommended for Approval

Okay guys and girls. This is a question to all, but specifically Brits.

Anyone who has recently moved to the USA on a K1 visa. Did you insure yourself between the period of POE and marriage?

All being well we will be married within a week of my arrival, and on my fiancee's(by then wifes) medical policy by the beginning of May. But is there any way to insure yourself medically in the interim. Or do I just have to wrap myself in cotton wool for a week

I don't think that regular travel insurance from the U.K would cover this. But I just wanted to ask other peoples opinions and thoughts first.

Thanks for reading

We went with SevenCorners for the time between POE and marriage. I always think it's better to be safe just in case! And by the way, you'll be in Roanoke? Only 2 hours from Harrisonburg, where my husband and I live! Good luck with interview. My then fiance said it was very non-eventful!

Yeah, your UK travel insurance will not cover it. Here's a couple of options:

I haven't had any insurance since Feb.. They want me to have my GC. We were just gonna wait it out. :)

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

Thanks for the good luck wishes, and the recommendation of SevenCorners. Actually we are in the next town over, Salem. Gorgeous part of the country.

Remember the snow of December 18th 2009. I got stuck on I-81 overnight, on the way to see Crystal, because VDOT weren't ready for it. That was an adventure.
