Seems like a great proof of relationship to me! Do you have anything in both your name? Like life insurance or what not? Pictures are good to have too. What about e-mails, plane tickets, or things like that from visits?

Do you have the birth certificate for your child? It should have both your names on it, correct? I'd bring that too!

Yes, we do have the Birth certificate and our baby´s US passport, so it should work great!!!!

Thanks so much!!!

I would err on the side of caution and include more proof of an on-going relationship.

Copies of boarding passes, letters, phone records.

Having a one year old child together is not proof that the relationship has continued over the past year. I would include all you can to be safe. (F)

A child isn't necessarily proof of a relationship... it show that you guys were 'together', but not that there is something ongoing there...

Unfortunately unless you have proof of paternity just having a baby itself is considered a very weak form of evidence. I know it seems crazy but you need to have all the other stuff, too. Having his name on the birth certificate helps but again is not enough by itself. They like to see the paper trail; plane tickets, passport stamps, photos of you together- even if all your friends know the baby looks exactly like him! Good luck.

As others have said, the child isn't proof of anything except that you had sex. It isn't even proof that you had sex with your boyfriend (I'm hoping fiance if you're applying for a K1 so you need to call him your fiance not your boyfriend) unless you've actually had a DNA test done. The child also isn't proof of "ongoing relationship" because even assuming the child IS his, it could have been a one night stand and you're just helping a "friend" immigrate.

I could go and have sex with a stranger, have my hubby sign the birth cert and there you go, proof of OUR relationship when it's actually proof of nothing except I had sex (with someone), had a child, and that my husband signed his name on the birth cert.

Sorry. You need to show immigration proof that you are TOGETHER and together NOW and plan to be together in the FUTURE. You need to prove that you love him and plan on marrying him. The minute you become complacent you'll get into trouble. Leave them NO doubt that you're a legit couple.
