Interview rescheduled by US Embassy in Brussels : I am now set to go October 18th! So next tuesdayyy!!! Jihaa me

Well,, They still needed a document from me. Copy of proof of citizenship from the JointSponsor (they should of caught that in NVC but didnt) Anyway, I have a 'comeback' tomorrow, and cosponsor send me the original through UPS. If it doesnt get to me before noon, I dont have time to go to the embassy anymore and will have to wait another week... They said they needed a certified copy (when I called embassy) but on the instructions it states : **If you are a joint sponsor, substitute sponsor, or the relative of an employment-based immigrant requiring an affidavit of support, proof of your citizenship status, U.S. national status or lawful permanent resident status.

For U.S. citizens or nationals, a copy of your birth certificate, passport, or certificate of naturalization or citizenship.**

Now Idk what to do tomorrow.. The instructions here of the I864 state 'a copy' - no specifications. I have a regular copy in hands. Should I go up to the embassy anyways and see what happens?

I just sent in a regular copy of my and my co-sponsor's birth certificate. I don't think it has to be a certified copy for NVC, but since the embassy told you they need it to be certified then you should probably do so.

They only said that after I made a call to ask for time I could come over. They mess up on a lot of things in there I believe. The consul tells me one thing, the operators another. Consul says copy and come back tuesday. Operator says you can only come back on thursdays and certified. So, I really dont know.

Show up ASAP with the regular copy. Even the petitioner only sends a regular photocopy of birthCert or passport with the original I-130. I would trust the Consul more than the operator. Show up as SOON as you can with WHATEVER you have.

The language used by the embassies can be ambiguous and misleading. My husband was asked to bring a "court-certified copy" of my late husband's death certificate. I don't know how/why a person would get that, when it's easier to get original documents from the county. We got embassy to say IN WRITING that the original document could be used instead. On Monday we will see what hoops they present during his interview. Crazy process.

Went to the Embassy again today! With the regular copy, and it was totally fine! They were asking around a little bit, it took about 10min untill they said 'OKAY PICK YOUR VISA UP MONDAY!'' TOTALLY APPROVED!!! I AM FLYING HOME TUESDAY!!

Hi Everyone,

I have a quick q. I sent in my I-864 and DS-230 packages last Thursday, and today when I called the NVC number, the automated message said that my case was completed on 10/26!! Kind of surprised, that was really quick..but I spend a lot of time preparing it and it was super super organized. lol

My q is, should I call NVC about an interview date? Or, do I just wait for some kind of notification from them? I've read on here that they assign interview dates the 2nd week of every month...so do I just call then?

Also, does anyone know how much time would it take for the Chennai Embassy...? I was thinking like 2 months?

You don't need to wait for the NVC to contact you and you don't need to wait until the 2nd week of each month. The operators will tell you they only schedule the second week of each month but that's not the case (see Saylin's timeline as an example).
