Hey Dave, how do you know when your packets have been accepted? Do they email you or do you have to check online somewhere?

No there is no online status check like USCIS had.

You know it reached if you sent it with delivery or signature confirmation.

After that if you sent both of your packets together either the IV packet of AOS packet will be accepted or RFE. Either or at this point. This is only if you sent both packets together.

Now, if you are sending them both separately the majority of the time the AOS is sent first as it is invoiced first. After about a week, the NVC operator can tell you if it is accepted or not.

Now, the next step is not clear to me but to my understanding after you get confirmation of the AOS you have to either wait until SIF. Most people usually get SIF and then they call in and find out from the operator the IV packet is accepted and case is closed and your in line for interview date.

Are the appropriate packages ready to go? If so, you don't need to wait for a list, send it now since the bills are now shown as paid.

If not, read the shortcuts; you could be waiting a long time if you wait for a list.

Friends

Since I am now waiting for my AOS bill to show 'PAID', I wanted to ask something about sending AOS form I-864. On the state.gov website, it says the following :

"Attach the bar code sheet and mail them to the NVC unless you have joined the E-Mail Electronic Processing program, then…

Scan the I-864 to Portable Document Format (PDF) and send it as an e-mail attachment to NVCElectronic@state.gov. Sending physical documents to the NVC will delay the processing of your case. "

So does this mean that we can scan the I-864 and send it electronically ? Or is it only for some specific cases ?

Thanks!!

No, India applicants have to send it in to NVC physically not electronically.

Certain countries i.e. China, Canada and Mexico do processing electronically. India does NOT.

You should scan/copy the package before you send it out for your records and a copy to send to the beneficiary.
