Just wondering if there are any April 2011 Filers on here. If so, post up your visa journey as the process goes on!

Yeah, I just sent my I-130 form, and I just received the text today. So if the text says they are sending out the I-797 form does that mean it was approved? That is how I understand it, but I am not quite sure. And does anyone know where to get a list of the other forms to fill out for the entire process.

I just received my NOA1 hard copy in the mail today from California Service Center. My wife's name was spelled incorrect and I call the number listed in the document. Within 10 minutes I had her name changed and received a confirmation number for the name change. Operator did say the process does not stop because of this mistake, and USCIS will either contact you via E-mail, SMS or Text Message and for sure via Postal Mail on the name change. Now for the long wait to begin...

I-179C, Notice of Action is NOA1. This says they have received your file, what type of visa classification you are applying for. It's basically a receipt of your I-130 acceptance form.

Just received NOA1 text message! Way faster than I was expecting it to be!

I received e-mail notification of the name correction I made for my wife yesterday. They will send out another hard copy receipt NOA1/I-797C within the next 15 business days.

I-179C, Notice of Action is NOA1. This says they have received your file, what type of visa classification you are applying for. It's basically a receipt of your I-130 acceptance form.

I don't think you got the same form as I did. Did you get a receipt number? If you didn't get a receipt number then I think you have to send some more stuff or something. It says "The use of the USCIS Approval Notice has been revised. It has four versions as follows:

• Form I-797, used only for the approval of immigrant visa petitions and adjustment of status applications.

• Form I-797A, with a tear-off I-94 card used when the applicant is inside the United States, for extension of stay and changes of non-immigrant status.

• Form I-797B, with a tear-off consular notification card used when the applicant is outside the United States or will use the approval to obtain a non-immigrant visa.

• Form I-797C, used for non-approvable actions such a filing receipts, requests for more information and denial."

I got a receipt number on my I-797C. It was contained in the electronic notifications (e-mail and text/sms messages.) I have no idea where that blog got it's info from. It asks nothing for additional information needed to process this file. It says the application has been received and is in processing to be reviewed.

I would trust this site and a couple more immigration/visa sites before some random blog that you can find on google search.
