PWND.

I was in the AF too. I also spent a little time playing with the Army and sure, I did use my own latrine on occasion. My point with the military and gender bias is even in the military - which is supposed to be fair to everyone - there is discrimination based on gender. If you're accomplishing the same mission, why do you need a separate bathroom? Why didn't they buzz your hair at basic? Why are you allowed to wear earrings?

WHAT PERCENTAGE OF FEMALE AIRMEN MADE BTZ?

I know it's not often you get field showers erected by the Army, but when you had the luxury (or AF support!) of hot water, did they make the women wait till all the men were done?

who was PWND? I'm such a noob.

I see your point and i've heard it 100s of times before.

Sorry, I thought you were Army- I think it was the Korean tour that made me think that, but you were there as AF, so you had some ####### to do too. :star:

I don't know the % of female BTZ ( but I was one :) )

I don't know any women who can pee up a wall, either- so a building with at least a loo in it is kind of a 'must' don't you think?

Field showers: We let them go first. After their showers they were off to eat their MREs somewhere.

Earring: I was not allowed to wear them most of the time for obvious reasons.

Hair: i don't know, but I'm glad they didn't shave it.

But that's just me and my opinion and experience.

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

The hair thing never made sense to me. I understood why they buzzed the guy's hair, but then you let the women through and basically are saying it doesn't really matter. So couldn't a guy have longer hair then too?

Just curious how you know this. Do you compare salaries with your colleagues?

We do, but our pay is scaled on set factors... and public record lol. If you know my first and last name and my workplace, you can look up my salary.

Do you disagree with it?

Two tours as an SP at Osan and a few trips to the box as well. Not to mention all the "AIT" at Camp this or Fort that. Not many airmen quote FM 7-8, but I'm one of 'em. I'd say you probably know your way around the AO with all that SF training you've had.

I don't know the % of female BTZ ( but I was one :) )

No surprise there. Any female attached to an Army unit on "deployment status" had a model career.

I'm totally not trying to downplay your accomplishments or service. I was honored to serve with everyone I served with and tip my hat to all vets. But, can you honestly sit back and say there's no "help" for females in the military? That they're treated "equally" to their male counterparts?

I don't know any women who can pee up a wall, either- so a building with at least a loo in it is kind of a 'must' don't you think?

No, I don't think. When you're on a mission (or in support of one) there should be 100% team cohesion and unity. The minute you add something "special" for someone - anyone - you start to deteriorate your unit's cohesiveness.

It's not only acceptable for females... it's encouraged.

The hair thing never made sense to me. I understood why they buzzed the guy's hair, but then you let the women through and basically are saying it doesn't really matter. So couldn't a guy have longer hair then too?

A guy has a #######. People with a ####### have to follow ALL the rules and regulations, not just some of them.

I'm not trying to 'win' a peeing contest or anything, and I hope I didn't come off as a braggart or something because the truth is that when i got my assignment and orders to train at Ft Benning and Hurlbert Field before reporting to Ft lewis...I cried for probably 2 weeks. I was AF-not Army. Hated every second of the grunt stuff! But I figured I signed on the line and there was no choice but to do it and do it good mostly because as soon as my Unit got landed with me- they all thought I couldn't. but make no mistake, everytime I could get on to McChord and file a dream sheet at personnel, I was.

I suppose in some ways it was different for women...but believe me that in alot of ways it was harder ( in my experience).

and OMG AIT......*shudder*. that was only *slightly* better than being in the sand or mud box.

I'm not taking it that way at all. I'm sure you did your time well and advanced through your own merits. What I'm saying is there is a double standard for women in the military much like there is a double standard for women in the civilian world.

When I was in the service, I did notice the women got curtains, but we didn't.

Exactly my point. From the very start, women are treated differently.

Back to Male-Female Vag Gap.

That doesn't exist.

I still can't believe women aren't required to register for the draft. Why we put up with this injustice is a mystery to me. Why feminists aren't up in arms (literally) is also a mystery.

I don't disagree with that, if a draft because of war was necessary, one day we may have to? I would be absolutely useless in the military but I wouldn't be any more/less scared than another random civilian guy standing next to me so that shouldn't exempt people like me from doing our part. Provisions have to be made for families somewhere though I'm not sure how that should work, fathers aren't any less important than mothers.

I bet a whole lot of people would decide it was a great time to try for new babies lol

Surely people would care more about the reason for a draft in the first place though.

So if we got this on the ballot, you'd support it?
