Seeking advice regarding car registration

So this is the situation and I hope someone knows how we can go about it:

Hubby and I are currently stationed in Germany. We bought a BMW over here which will be shipped for free by BMW back to the US.

Now our dilemma: We will have it shipped to Shreveport, Louisiana and I think we kind of have that part sorted out but then we don't want to register the car in Louisiana as we will be there for only about 3 weeks.

Then we are going to drive up to North Dakota where we will be permanently stationed and that's where we would register the car for good.

Now our question is: Is there something like a temorary/customs registration we can get for that time, approximately 1 month? Or does anyone have any ideas what we could do?

don't your usareur plates work for 30 days? check with your local vehicle registration, they can probably offer some insight as to what louisiana allows.

As far as we know, we will have to turn them in as soon as we unregister the car in the usareur system. But thanks, I will check with them here. 30 days wouldn't be enough though as it already takes about 30 days for the shipment- unless the 30 days start once it's arriving here. But I will check into that. Thank you!
