Hi

I´m processing the paperwork for my wife, so that she can recieve a visa to go to the states. I have to fill out the form I-864. My question is in regards to number 23. It says that I have to put my current anual income. Being that my last 3 years is income working in Spain. Should I put my last one or should I indicate my last income from working in the US?

Current annual income means now, this week. Are you still living in Spain?

Hi,

Yes I am. I want to head back to the states with my wife and two boys. I got the american passport for my elder son who is 1 year old. And the second one is due in middle of June. When he comes i´ll have to take care of his paperwork as well.

I was just wondering on the I864 because the line shows that I have to put dolar amount and since my last 3 tax returns are from working in spain, i was a little confussed. I guess I have to convert the euro amount into dolars by using the current value of euro-dolar.

Is this correct?

If your income will not continue when you return to the US (or you have not secured new US based employment) you will need a joint sponsor for your spouse's visa.

You can fill in the income amount from your last 3 US tax returns (meaning 2008, 2009, and 2010) where it should already be stated in US dollars.

The US taxes on worldwide income. There is a foreign income exclusion provision so you aren't taxed twice (there are limits). If you have not filed US tax returns for the most recent 3 years you would need to get that taken care of.
