Hey guys :)

I just have a super quick question regarding vaccinations which I haven't been able to find an answer for, I even emailed the doctor where I am to have my medical but got no response.

In 2003 I had my Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis booster, and also my Measles, Mumps and Rubella booster. I have records for these. Do I need them again before my medical, or will I still be good from 2003?

I haven't had the Varicella vaccination, but I had chickenpox as a child, and so did my fiance, so do I need this?

I just want to know, as I plan on doing my medical way before my NOA2, just to get it out the way. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!!!

You may need a tetanus booster, I think those only last 4 years. Should be ok for the rest.

I don't think the doc will be able to answer that for you over email. It depends on you. I had also had a booster in the past couple of years for MMR and tdap - therefore I thought I would be ok. Found I needed further boosters for both.

It is honestly easier to have a serology test done. Costs you nothing, can get it on medicare. You get a neat A4 sized record that is much easier than bringing baby record/etc.

I had also had chicken pox but had no proof so serology also confirmed this.

I'd wait though for a couple of months to get it done - I think the med results are valid for a year so between waiting for NOA 2, entering the country, getting married, then finally getting to AOS may take a while.

Good luck with it all! xxxx

Ahh, thank you so much guys! :)

Will be booking a Serology test in the next couple of months then go from there. Do I just ask my GP for one, or go into one of those pathology centres (I can't think of their name now...) and say I need one?

When I got mine done, I brought in the list of required immunisations - I'm pretty sure my doctor understood it better than I had

My GP was the one who took my blood then I just went back to get the results. Either way, you'll need a referral to go a pathology place so see your GP :)

Also, tetanus hurts. haha

tetanus its good for 10 yrs unless in five yrs you get an injury and then you might need a booster..the other one should be good but go to the doctor before going and getting all this test done and paying extra for vaccines you might not even need..good luck.

Just go to your local doc at medical centre and get the serology test done. Tel them what you are doing and they will know. Tetanus lasts 10 years. Once you get the results you take that to the medical in OZ for the visa.

Divorced !st November 2012.

Married only 2 years 1 month

always expect some shots to be recommended or given. this is compliance with the US Embassy. Nothing against whether you need them or not. they just feel it is safer to give them again "just to be safe"

But with good provable history and good medical records, it is hard to say what they will do. Just know this is a US run medical exam. They got ot have done "something" to charge you for doing it.... and a stat to put on a report wot to show the embassy they are doing their job....
