Hello everyone I hope you can help me answering the question in part 6. about employemt. So I work in a school before I even got the EAD in hand but they didn't pay me until I recieved the EAD it's like I work voluntarily in the school the problem for me right now that I didn't realize was they put the date in pay check that I was hired the day that I started as a volunter. I didn't see that until I was getting ready to file in the around september of this year. My questions are as follows:

1.Shall I write down the months that i work as volunter?

2.Shall I ask my employer to write me a letter that I work as a volunter and I applied for the job when I got my EAD?

Please let me know who ever undergo the same situation because I don't have the money to pay for a lawyer. Your opinion would do a great help. Thank you so much in advance fellow VJ's

I'm unsure about your questions but I just read something in a different thread where they basically said that volunteering without EAD is only allowed if they do not pay you, not going to employ you at a later point, if they have multiple people volunteering there and if they have volunteers on a regular basis.

It seems to me that if you get paid afterward, you would be breaching the part where it says you're not allowed to be employed for them at a later time.

Also, if there are others who get money for the same kind of work you were doing for 'free', you would also be breaching as that too is not allowed according to a different forum.

I understand you have no money for a lawyer, but I do think it would be a good idea to have someone spit through the law for you so you can be absolutely sure about what to do and what's legal and what's not.
