Question #11 on I-134

A question for those filling-out an I-134 for a K-1 Visa:

What did you write for Question #11 on the I-134 ("I intend/do not intend to make specific contributions to the support of the person named in item 3")?

The Ciudad Juarez consulate has NO opinion on the subject.

One option that many suggest is to write (also in the VJ I-134 example form): "N/A (K-1 Visa process for permanent residence)"

I was thinking go with "N/A" because I have a modest income, currently live w/my mom and don't have much specifically to offer him. Plus, it seems obvious to me that we will share everything once we're married and that I'm responsible to support him until he finds work. That's the whole reason I'm filling this form out!

*HOWEVER* I'm afraid that an "N/A" may appear as a lack of my commitment to supporting him. If the N/A response might create such a suspicion, then I could write something like: "I plan to financially support as necessary (including room, board and medical expenses) until my fiance until is able to secure a job at which point we will both contribute to our household income." This seems so OBVIOUS to me that I feel that I should just put the "N/A" response.

I'm loosing it over a simple (yet so very confusing) question and I need all of your valuable opinions! Any Ciudad Juarez alumni? : )

I-134 is a Consulate Embassy topic, moving there...

#11 does not apply to immigrant intent visas such as K-1, I followed the example form (No check box and stated N/A K-1 process)

Before my husband (then fiancé) went for his interview in Juarez, I wondered and asked about this too. I had someone tell me not to put N/A for Juarez. Not many people answered me, so I went with that. I checked 'intend' and then on the line put: K-1 visa process for permanent residence ( provide all expenses as necessary )

Hope this helps. Good luck! :)

We don't want to leave anypart of the form not filled out so we are putting;

'I intend to marry & support NAME OF FIANCEE as we make out new life together as husband & wife. Our plan is to live together at my residence in STATE, USA.'

This way they are aware that though you are not making 'specific' contributions, a marriage is a lifetime commitment. I believe this is the same form you fill out when supporting a student etc to enter the USA for school, so the question is directed at all possible afidavit's of support...however I would write something not just N/A which can raise questions.

my two cents!
