All I can say is it's just like with terrorism, it's a good thing there is a big water barrier between the USA and the FSU. Because if FSU women were right next door where the mass majority of American men could go and experience FSU women first-hand, I think you'd find a huge change in dating patterns.

I'd also say that although we may talk about smokin hotties in the RUB, I think it's really about what's "under the hood" of an FSU woman that is so attractive. You can EASILY find an incredibly attractive woman that is not a complete b@#$% and that will be very intelligent to boot. They don't follow the usual inverse relationship between beauty and personality that seems to be really common in the USA. I'm not saying ALL women the FSU, USA, or other countries all fall in the same bucket...there are always outstanding exceptions (usually married). Just imo though...maybe I was just incredibly unlucky and/or lucky.

In the US, there is a large segment of the population that looks down on people who are "too" smart/educated, etc.

1) What are the percentages and demographics of your assertion?

--or--

2) You were picked on by jocks for being a nerd in school? :o:

--You can respond to either, or both. :P

Read American mass media. See: politicians being viewed negatively for being too intelligent and not "in touch with the common person," the idea of "real" America and "fake" America, etc.

I went to a school for smart kids. Our "jocks" were like, cross country runners who went on to study neuroscience at Harvard and stuff like that.

At the same time in Russia there are so many educated people, that having a degree doesn't even mean anything. You have to get 2 or 3 degrees or a PhD to deserve some respect and to get a good job.

True also. There are alot of people without degrees, but you are correct that to compete for good jobs you must be very highly educated.

But another roblem is that a lot of the "good jobs" pay no more than the "bad jobs"

I will be glad to. She is right, though to say "looks down on" may be the wrong phrase. Perhaps "hates" or "is scared to death of" is better. I can say that other than the clients who pay me, I have never been well liked at work...ever. I have no time for nonsense and do not waste time having meeting after meeting to discuss problems that get worse and worse. I fix them and move on. Too often I have been called in when other "experts" have been "working" on a problem for weeks and weeks, even months. I walk in, already knowing the answer because I studied everything last night...tell them what to do and say...now I am going skeet shooting, anyone want to come along?

In a recent incident I reviewed a case where a committee of these "experts" had come up with a $500,000 solution to a problem and I was asked to review it before the client paid out half a million dollars. I fixed the problem in less than half an hour for -0- dollars by turning on some existing equipment that had never been used properly. They said it wouldn;t work. It couldn;t be that easy. It worked, itwas that easy, I went skeet shooting, they kept looking for a problem that was fixed. The client loved me. The committee hates me. #### 'em.

I usually just do not go to meetings. I do not own a tie. Get someone else to be your fashion plate, if you want the job done...call me. I'm old, have good insurance and no time for BS.

Alla is often treated not well in class either because her standard is a 4.0 GPA ashe comes to the USA gets a grant for a private university right away and less than 3 years from arriving has a masters degree and is TEACHING English. Yeah, some people don't like that.

I would say that about 2/3 of people in the USA are incompetent in their jobs.

No one picks on me.

The dating patterns in the FSU country's had me very confused.

An example would be a simple sidewalk cafe in Minsk.

1) Do I make a play on the 5'1" 105lb hot little sexy grey eyed brunette in the mini skirt and stiletto heels ?

2) Do I make a play on the 5'7" 115lb hot sexy green eyed red head in the mini skirt and stiletto heels ?

3) Do I make a play on the 5'11" 125lb hot sexy amazon blue eyed blond in the mini skirt and stiletto heels ?

4) Do I make a play on all three and see if I can get at least two of the three to join me in a threesome ?

5) Did I remember to save that waitresses mobile # from this morning ?

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

I don't think people are better or worse, but there are cultural differences which are very obvious. Are Russian/Ukrainian/Belarusian women under more pressure to look a certain way? Yes. You don't just go outside in your sweatpants with your FUPA hanging out, do you?

Is bad behavior from men absolutely more tolerated in RUB than in the USA? Yes again. Do Russian guys I know cheat more than their American counterparts. Yup. Are domestic violence, alcoholism, etc. far bigger problems? Yes.

This doesn't mean that all Russian women are beautiful, all American women are ugly, all Russian men are philandering, wife-beating alcoholics, and all American men are angels. But some things are just more common in one place than in another.

Seems to be a problem of the younger generation, this one of extremes. I can understand that ONA may not get the nuances of "accepted" vs. "acceptable" but I truly don't understand where this "all...." comes from. when one speaks in generalities and says "RUB women are better looking than American women", it is like saying Labradors are larger than Huskies. Yes, generally. Are ALL Labroadors bigger than ALL huskys? No. Generally speaking, if you have to toss the word "all" into your conversation to prove your point, you have already lost.

That said...I much prefer to wake up with a 10 that sleeps naked and expects her man to keep her warm than a 5 in a flannel bag or sweatsuit. Just sayin'.

but you live in vermont!

 Cute Charles.

I never drink though

I agree with that and that's actually all I wanted to hear.

I'm just tired of people making generalizations. It's the same thing as when you hear some ignorant RUB people (yes, we have ignorant people here too) say that "oh, we're so awesome and Americans are ugly, fat and stupid". That's when I would do my best to prove them wrong.

generalizations does not mean "all" and if you were waiting to hear what is obvious to ...well...anyone, I would only ask..."Why?"

Canada is colder than Texas. True.

Is Canada ALWAYS colder than Texas? No.

Playing by the averages....

I asked Kira one time how is it that so many hot chicks can be in such a small country. She told me it had something to do with the high level of iodine in the water. So me being a tard I believed her. It wasn't until a few years later that I found out she was bull sh*tt*ng me.

It doesn't really come from here, but one of the examples:

The zero article, or, the meaningful non-use of the article, expresses absolute generalization, abstraction of the referent denoted by the noun. It renders the idea of the highest degree of generalization and abstraction.

Maybe the problem is in the fact that I've been studying British English, but using zero article in that case sounds too strong to me - yes, pretty much like saying ALL.

What if the words most all or even the word most were to be used instead of the word all ?
