Ok I have put in alot of time looking into all this stuff getting ready for the interview and looking at the forms etc. I still have some questions though.

1. Is it at the NVC when I can choose to do electronic processing? How do I opt in for that? Call them up?

2. After choosing to opt in for electronic processing how do we go about packet 3? They have the DS230 or whatever that form is called so I assume if you fill that out online you dont need a mailing address label? What about the copy of her biography page on her passport? How can we file that electronically?

3. If you do online processing how do you provide a signature on any form????

4. Does the police report need to be done in her hometown? Also I didnt see a form for them to fill out? do they just give you a copy of their report?

5. I heard once they say packet 3 has been sent it could take 3 weeks to arrive. I heard its ok if you send it back and it gets to the consulate the same day as it gets to her place its fine. Once they say its been sent (eventhough its just sitting in a pile somewhere) is it ok to send in your completed packet 3? also how does this apply to electronic processing? do they email her instead and she has to email them back?

this electronic processing is confusing me some and i really couldnt find good directions about the filing on the guanzhou website. Sorry for so many questions but I am just trying to iron out the details since my application is at the NVC right now and I want to be done with this as quick as possible. We already have a case number from the NVC btw.

Thanks.

1. Yes it is when your case reaches the NVC. About a week after it leaves the USCIS, start calling the NVC number to get your case number. Once you have that then you can optin to the electronic process via email. Check this link for the format of the email and the email address. http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Electronic_Processing

Have her sign and scan the choice of agent form and you will send this along with the optin email

After you have sent the optin email, wait a few days and start calling for your new case number. It will change from a GUZ number to a GZO number.

2. In electronic processing, everything must be sent as a pdf document. Scan her passport page and save it is a pdf (most scanners will do this).

3. You/she must sign everything and then scan it as a pdf.

4. the police certificate will be done in the town where her family Hukou. She can request this from the local PSB. If she lives in a differnt town then she can have a family member who is listed in the Hukou request it for her. My wife's sister had to do this for us.

5. With electronic processing there won't be any packet 3. The process is all geared around the electronic payments of the AOS bill and the IV bill. a few days after you get the GZO number you can log on to the NVC payment site and you can pay the fees there. It will take a couple of days for them to be marked complete. Then you can download the cover letters and receipts

We included the receipt and cover sheet in the emails with the I864 package and the DS-230 package for my wife.

Once everything is sent, you sit back and wait for the email with the interview date and the medical exam info.

Darnell gave me a good time line that I'll copy here but the rough time frame is between 35 and 55 days from the time the NVC has received everything.

First Block

finish submitting everything - then you get 'case complete status' within 10 days

then

you need 'final review' - which is 2 to 10 more days.

for NVC EP to CHINA - scheduling occurs 2 to 5 days AFTER final review is completed.

Once it's scheduled, the appointment date can be 20 to 30 days after scheduling event.

The electronic process wiki is helpful but not a little confusing to me but that is the place to start. Darnell has been through it so he is a good resource and my wife and I are going through it now and we are more than happy to answer any questions.

One last thought. I know most people will tell you not to use an attorney, but we are using a guy in Nanning who came highly recommended to us and he has been a godsend. China spouse immigration is all he does and he has been great for answering questions and keeping everything straight for us. And the cost is about 1/3 of what it would cost for a US attorney. http://www.visaschina.com/index.htm

Correct me if I'm wrong, you are petitioning for a k-1 visa, but electronic processing is not available to k-1. It is for CR-1. :)

Wow thank you for the detailed info. But now my head is swimming with so much info

I want to change it but I need to make sure my fiance knows how to scan everything in pdf forms first. I will email her today and she will reply tomorrow morning my time. If the NVC has already mailed out the form is it too late to change?

Also why dont they mention this option at all? Its available but someone who wasnt on websites like visa journey would probably have no clue about it. :bonk:

fiance?

EP is only for spouse/family members, not ever for fiance, sorry.

which is which, and who is who ?

Good catch, Bobby - I had to review http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=103210 to be certain.

Turbo, alas, doesn't qualify for EP, as he's chasing a K-1 visa.

Hey - answering yer list, in list format.

1. No Direct 'OPT IN' since is a K-1 visa. About 1/2 of the I-129F's get sent out solely via SAFEFILE, so there's no 2 to 5 month 'wait time' for that 1/2 that not use DHL for shipping. you cannot choose it, you cannot pick it, but you can call NVC to inquire about 'whats what'.

2. review packet 3 shortcut at http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/GUZ_P3_Shortcut calling DOS and NVC for status - see http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/264972-shortcuts-when-checking-for-updates-from-the-nvc-and-dos/ for how to call (and scroll down to read my bits on what you can get, and when)

3. immaterial, you don't qualify - relax.

4. city of hukuo registration. Buried in the P3 shortcut is the link to GUZ IV forms - review the packet 3 set for fiance there, the instructions state 'how to get'

5. yup - that's the beauty of the P3 shortcut - but that's for postal processing for a K-1 visa - never for CR-1/CR-2/IR-1/IR-2/IR-5 visa - they have no P3 shortcut with GUZ IV - different visa type, different paperwork, different forms, different process. To be clear(er) - since EP not apply to you, that last question is meaningless (sorry).

GOOD LUCK !
