Hello, I just received my NOA-1 today in the mail. I know it will take many months to get approved but I don't want to be caught off guard when its finished. I don't want to scramble around gather all the supporting documents for the I-134. So I'm wondering when would be a good time? Would doing it now be to early? Like does the bank document and the letter from my employer have to be done with in a certain amount of time? Thank you for your help.

You can start gathering things anytime. Order your tax transcripts (if that's what you're planning on using), start stashing away your paystubs (I've been putting mine in a folder since January), get documentation about assets (if you need to list them).

Other things like an employment letter should wait until closer to your interview. Having an employment letter from April means nothing if your interview is in October - best to wait until after NOA2 for this.

My fiance and co-sponsor only submitted a bank statement for when their accounts were opened and amount of deposits for the past 12 months. They also had a letter from their employers stating their terms of employment and salary.

Since neither of them are self-employed we did not submit tax returns.

The officer at the interview didn't ask me a thing about the affidavits.

I think it is a good idea to have the I-134 forms ready to be signed and dated once your NOA2 comes through - I guess having the bank statements/letter from employer looks better if it's as current as possible. Again, who even knows if they take any notice of these things.

I'd give it a couple of months :) Good luck with it all!

There is no specific time limit. It should be recent. The best thing to do now is to contact your employer and your bank and see what they will need or what procedure to follow. In my case it was pretty simple and I collected the necessary documents just a few days before I left to go to the interview. If it is something that will take a few weeks to get (it can with some banks and employers) then you will know in advance.

Just because there is no specific "rule" is not a good thing, it means the CO doing the interview can decide. I have never heard of anyone having documents dated within 90 days of the interview having a problem. The I-864 affidavit spoecifically states the documents must be within 1 year but also says they have the option to request more recent dates.

So Thomas you can get all that sorted ain a few months to send over to Australia. It takes no time at all to get done. The letter from your employer just needs to be on a business letter head stating yearly wages and full time or part time. ^6 paystubs, and no tax transcripts are needed for Australia. The 134 is never asked for at interview well wasn't at mine and have nver heard of it either. I would suggest you get Marrissa to get police report and medical done around end of July. The medical you may have to wait till you get your case number from NVC after approval as some of the doctors require a case number. I was lucky mine didn't. As the beneficiary I looked up all the documents I needed on the US consulate site Sydney and downloaded them all and started collecting so when the packet 3 came I was ready to send them in the same day.the 156 and 156k can be downloaded any tim but she can start to have a look and read over it all. Hope this helps

Thank you very much for your help. Its a great help. I'm organizing all the stuff for my Fiance to do now. Just wondering, but where did you live in Aust? Shes in Melbourne and it would be if I could find if the doctor there doesn't need a case number so I can start that part of the process.
