Hey everyone,

I know a lot of people have questions about the I-864 forms...and I'm one of them. I would rather be safe than sorry, so that's why I'm asking. Anyway, I am the USC filing for my husband to come live in the US. The US domicile I am using is also the same address where my parents live. My parents will also be sponsors. So when I'm filling out the I-864, do I include them on line 21g? Also, I personally am unemployed, and make no annual income, so I have put 0 on line 23. However, what do I put on line 24a for the household income? Do I use my parents income for that line even though it says to use my answer from line 23? Do both my dad and mom fill out I-864 or I-864a? They file taxes as married filing jointly, so I don't know which forms they need, or if only one of them needs to be on the forms or both? Can anybody help me with my annoying questions? haha!

Thanks for the time and help,

KA

Your I-864 is about you and you husband (and any minor children if applicable). Since you currently have no income do not use the I-864A from a parent. Simpler to have the parent use the I-864.

Have one parent complete the form I-864 using only their individual income. If that income is enough for their household plus the intending immigrant then the other parent does not need to complete an I-864A. If both parents' incomes are needed then one completes the 864 and the other an 864A.

It's ok that they file a joint tax return. An individual's income can be documented with W2's/1099's/etc.
