I'm still beginning the process, but I didn't know that Toronto was an option.....from all the other timelines I've seen I thought that the only two embassy options were Montreal or Vancouver. Can Toronto be selected as the embassy when you fill out the forms?

If you live in Toronto you would submit your petition there. You have to submit to the Consulate where you live. However, all immigration visa's in Canada are processed through Montreal so regardless of where you initially submit your I-130 petition, it gets forwarded to Montreal for completion of the visa. Are you applying for IR-1/CR-1 or K visa?

No problem! And the only reason it even took so long between packet 3 and 4 for us was, I guess I forgot to put in the checklist. I swore I put it in there!!! Anyway, I sent it expresspost through Canada Post asap. It took longer for them to tell me I didn't put it in there, then it did for them to receive it and send off the Packet 4.

Good luck to you!!!

Hello,

I initally started my wifes IV process through Toronto. It took only a few weeks from the time I sent the copies to them to recieve a response from and have the appt to bring the Original docs down to them. After they take and approve your I-130 they will forward the stuff to montreal and you will recieve and IV packet from them. In the packet you must complete a few steps (make sure you print off the checklist, it doesnt say to, but do it, cause that held us up). You will get the packet in 4-6 weeks, it took us a little longer cause they messed up on the address and we never got the first copy.

Thank you afmiller. Where are you in the process now?

I just finished the medical down in Toronto, and I have an appointment for 19 July, which they haven't responded about bumping up my date.

Inky,

Is my wife able to come down with me to the house where we will be living while we wait till 19 July. We will be leaving Canada at the end of June, so it will only be 2 weeks, I've seen where she's able to visit but not move down until she has the green card. After the interview how long does it take to get the IV and able to move down? At least I don't have to file to get the 2 year restriction removed.

It seems like it's taking an average of 7 days for them to send back your passport and IV. If you go to the Canada - Regional Forum , some one has been keeping track of how long it's been taking.
