So here is the baseline thread moving guidelines.

http://www.visajourn...s-may-be-moved/

In general if a topic already fits a forum in a general sense then it should not be moved. The division between forums is not clean in many cases so if people tried to nick pick then we would have a flurry of moved (and re-moved) threads.

For P&R the real intent was to take Off Topic "topics" that related to politics (government news, laws, political opinion/satire) and to give them a separate forum. I would say that if anything there would be a trend of more things getting moved here (versus out). If something has nothing to do with politics or religion (nor immigration or regional discussion) then OT is the right place.

Those are good guidelines, however, this wouldn't even be an issue if the P&R were simply merged back with OT. Splintering the forums into so many different ones has created more problems than it has solved, IMO.

I dont normally post on this topic but this time i want to.

separating the tops hasn't really done a lot of good because what ever the topic is it turns into off topic or about religion and politics

seems it would be less problematic for the organizers or the mods if it just all went back into off topic

just my opinion

You are spot on, Sara. Anything can be politicized and it happens frequently in public discourse. Take, for example, a story about a teacher who uses corporal punishment on a student. The ensuing discussion/debate is really political in nature. Therefore, the lines are pretty blurry between what topics are best suited for the P&R forum and which ones should be in OT.

I would prefer that anyone (including me) not nick pick when moving items. If it fits more than not, it should not be moved.
