Yes or no, in your opinion. No further conversation is necessary.
Not enough information yet, truthfully. We don't know what the Organizers have been told by the highers-up, or how flexible the interpretation of the instructions may be. Perhaps the Admiral should clarify things here.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

See the exchange below and tell me if an organizer is, in your opinion, high enough on the VJ food chain to set policy pertaining to what is and isn't appropriate content for a forum.

Of course 'the Admiral' should clarify things. That has been mentioned a few times upthread.

If every organizer (there are so many!) decided to aggressively enforce his or her own 'definition' for politics and religion and off-topic and polls ... there would be chaos.

So yes, I do hope the 'definition' by Darnell came from above and isn't something he conjured up. We won't know until 'the Admiral' (i like that title, si man) speaks up.

He certainly was trying to cause problems. The first thread he moves at 3:22pm entitled "Welfare gone Extreme"...certainly sounds political - a complaint against the US government. A few people complain.

Then 30 minutes later he starts churning up other threads that have been buried for weeks and were unlikely to come up again.

This is what I ask for. When Darrell made the first really boneheaded thread move I naively expected admin to come and change it but then Kathyrn came and for the most specious of reasons upheld it. Of course that thread degenerated as any level headed person would have to know would have happened and expected and became locked. Now even more idiotic thread moves are happening so the only way this has to be kept being allowed is that the Admins are going along with this and the most highly exalted one has laid down a new policy that we know nothing about. If Ewok comes in and tells us he agrees with everything then that tells us we have a new policy. As it stands now it appears that Darnell is abusing his organizer ability to reflect his own personal views and be damned the policy in place now.

Yeap. He was being a tad childish, maybe worse.

Well, perhaps people who are dissatisfied should volunteer to help as Organizers!

Yes, this all goes to whether or not an organizer is the right person to be setting policy for what is or isn't acceptable content for a particular forum. On a site as fragmented as this one, those guidelines are important and they need to come from the top and not from the bottom.

You're missing the point. I assume not on purpose.

You know what would happen? I'd disagree with his move and move it back. He'd move it back. I'd move it back. We'd both have our own set of guidelines backing up our own decisions.

The problem is that organizers shouldn't be making up their own guidelines.

Exactly. As it appears now it looks like an organizer is setting policy and a huge bias is being displayed.blink.gif

I am happy to take a look later today. I am on my phone at the moment but can check this out via my PC later. If it takes me srtting additional firm guidelines, especially for OT and Politics areas then that is fine. I prefer the orgs have the best guidelines possible. This is true for the mods and even myself, helping improve consistency. If possible can we take a pause (orgs too) on this topic until I can read up abd check later? Thanks!!

I am an Ewok. I am here to to keep the peace. Please contact me if you have a problem with the site or a complaint regarding a violation of the Terms of Service. For the fastest response please use the 'Contact Us' page to contact me.

I will be the P&R organizer

eta: I'm awesome at organizing but I will never moderate because I don't care enough to tell people to shut up most of the time
