Funny thing you can buy beer or cigs in PI at any age, just as long as you have money.

But to get a Driver License you must be at least 18, no wonder you don't see kids driving and imagine how much more crazier it would be to drive around in PI if they let under 18 drive

Just another reason I dig PI.....

Whats fun is the fact that alcohol/liquor is on the shelf at the grocery that mostly anyone can buy. But yet at the grocery store here, the candy bars are behind a glass counter! You would think everyone would drink or be drunk, but not really.

The minimum age for driving in the Philippines is 16 years old (student permit). Majority of the cities in the Philippines does not have a 4-way STOP Sign. No Speed limit. Almost all drivers do not follow the 4-way STOP sign rules. In the Philippines, you have to be aggressive when crossing the 4-way stop sign. Otherwise, you will be stuck on the same spot forever. If you are a passenger inside a car in the Philippines, you will be constantly hitting an imaginary brake pedal with your foot all the time. :) No wonder, most failed when they take their road test here in the USA.

I drove once in the Philippines, but only on the outskirts of a small city. Not what you'd typically call a "city" here, just a medium sized town, really. It was entertaining, especially since it was the first time Bel got to see me drive, and she was impressed . It was a van full of people and everyone got a kick out of the white guy driving .

I wouldn't want to drive through the downtown area of that little city, much less anywhere near the big cities. It's CHAOTIC! I've described Filipino road traffic to people here as "dumping out a bucket of marbles".

I'll leave the driving to the locals.
