Guys I just got my U. S citizenship on March 02, 2011 . I want to surrender my Indian passport which is valid till 2013 . I want to know how much is the total fee? Its confusing.

I-130 Petition -Timeline

10-04-06 - Petitioner (wife) sent I-130 to USCIS Vermont Service Center

10-14-06 - Petitioner received NOA 1 "Receipt Notice"

01-17-07 - USCIS NOA2 "Approval Notice"

09-22-06 - Married in India

10-19-06 - Petitioner sent I-129F to USCIS Chicago

10-27-06 - Petitioner received NOA 1 "Receipt Notice"

01-17-07 - USCIS NOA2 "Approval Notice"

I-485 AOS Timeline

05/26/07 - Submitted I-485 package to USCIS Chicago

06/01/07 - USCIS sent I-797C NOA "Rejection Notice" and returns cashiers check

06/08/07 - Called USCIS to inquire why check was returned; USCIS confirms correct fee and advises to re-submit check and I-485 package to Chicago.

06/29/07 - NOA2 "Receipt Notice" received from USCIS

07/17/07 - Biometrics appointment at USCIS York, PA

If you just got your US passport, there should not be any fees, but its Indian govt they would want to charge you for freaking everything.

As far as I know the fees were for the ppl who had not surrendered their passport in time.

hmmm noop he/she does not need to apply for OCI to surrender the Indian passport. surrendering of Indian passport is a requirement for OCI but OCI is not required to surrender the passport.

If you want to play that silly game, she does not even have to surrender her India passport. She could step in front of a bus instead or do something else totally irrational. So when I said "you will need to . . . " I meant to say: "if you are not totally retarded, live in an insane asylum, have been declared legally incompetent, or have any other serious mental illness, you may want to . . . "

Still not clear . Site says if you got citizenship after may 31 than the fee is 175 + 12 processing fee that would be 187 . I got my cifizenship on march 02, 2011 . Its defenately He hahahahah.

A combined app (renunciation + OCI/PIO is possible, with single $20 postal-fee.
