So I got an email on April 9th saying my case has been approved. I'm assuming I should receive something in the mail in a few days which will have the NVC number. Is that correct? Once we get the number can we start doing things like police check and doctors appt? Can I send my I-864 in now or should I wait till I get the number? Very impatient, but at least I've heard that after this point things move a little quicker.

Don't send anything without having a NVC # and without your bill being generated. In one of the very useful guides I read that "it's like trying to pay for a water bill you don't even have yet"...

You should get the police cert. NOW, and don't wait for NVC to inform you... You should call and be proactive, otherwise you'll wait another 5 months or so...

You'll have to wait with the doctor's appointment until your case is at your consulate and they'll inform you...

This is a really good guide for specifics... http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/LingChe_NVC_ShortCut

Thanks - here the police report is sent directly to the embassy from the police dept. so I don't know if we can do that without a number.

oh ok... Sorry about the police cert., I learned something new...

I figured it's like here, you just get it at a police station...

You or your spouse should have called the NVC to get your case number and your invoice ID number before now. You don't have to wait on the NVC to send you anything.. redsnap posted a good link to get you started. Good luck!

Holding my nose and jumping off the cliff.. hope I don't hit any rocks in the water.
