This is not to offend anyone. Its just my opinion and I have been around the masjids etc for over 10 years. I find most of the reverts really have no clue of what they are getting into, they have no understanding of apostasy, they have been sold some kind of lighter version of whats really involved and the relationships were the fodder to why they went and jumped in to begin with. I have met many who miss their churches, their holidays and traditions, ESPECIALLY when the relationships end after the guys get their papers and then they feel super lost because blood is alot thicker than water and unless you really wanted this and there was no relationship that inspired it, whats left for the American when things go south? The parking lot of the masjid is littered with the broken hearts of women who reverted to please men and not for their own reasons... I feel this very strongly and if you did it for you and you wont leave it when your marriage goes south, then good for you but thats not what I have watched or seen,,

I also feel that if a relgious muslim doesnt insist on the western woman reverting , most likely its just for papers anyway. I dont know a religious muslim who would marry a non muslim anyway, especially if kids are on the way...I think if they are willing to do it, they want a greencard and not much else. Religion is very important to mena men as far as I see.

My Wife Is Roman Catholic And I'm Muslim .I Don't Feel That Our Religion Is In Our way.My Family Is Very Religious And Love Her A lot. They Never Looked At Her For Her Religion. But Looked At Her For Her Heart. And Btw She's Been Studying Islam For Years Even Before I Knew Her.When She's Ready She Will Convert. But It's Not A Big Issue To Us At ALL.Her Family Stands Beside Her With Any Decision She Makes. The Main Thing Is We Believe In One GOD.And For Us That's All That Matters

There is - Unitarian Universalism. In fact, there are quite a few congregations in the Boston area since it is headquartered here.

I honestly always thought they were only for all types of Christians, not all types of religions. I'll have to look into the one here in my town.

They also accept different sexual orientations and were one of the first to speak out against racism. In fact, Viola Liuzzo was the only white woman murdered in the civil rights battle. She was the character in Missippi burning that was shot by the klan driving a young black man back from a voting rally on an alabama road. He survived. She didnt. That was the basis of the 1965 voting rights act because the feds went in after her murder. She was unitarian universalist. They also are very gay friendly. They are a very progressive church

Yeah I just read about them when Jenn mentioned it. Now that I think of it I did consider bringing my kids there when I first became muslim because I wanted a place where we could all go together. My husband was very very against this.

Not surprising. I don't think it would be appealing to anyone who places much importance on the ritualistic components of their faith. I wouldn't imagine there are many Muslim or Catholic UU members.

I am just curious as to why it's always assumed the Christian in the relationship has to be the one to convert?? Why can't some of the Muslims convert to Christianity? Just wondering!

There are Muslims who convert to Christianity, but for the majority of us, imo, that would be going backwards and losing two prophets, not to mention a God.

Since we are a very minority in here :) Adam is one that became a Christian. He gained Jesus Christ as his Saviour! He lost nothing!

I was born into a Jewish home, I too myself am a Christian.

I can respect his choice, and yours, but practicing Muslims are adverse to seeing Jesus (pbuh) as a God or a savior. For us, he was a man chosen to spread the Word of God, not become a God.

Jesus didn't become a God. God became man through Jesus.

We can argue points on this all day. When it's all said and done Muslims will want you to see it their way every time and convert convert convert. Luckily, some women like myself have a backbone and can tell their Muslim SO straight up that it's never going to happen.

See this is what I am talking about......Not a big deal to us....but when she's ready she will convert. If it's not a big deal then why does she need to convert??

Betsy,

I think it depends on who out of the two who holds religion more importantly.

I heard of muslims converting to christianity (love conversion as they call it here) after marriage and it was because it was important to the christian spouse.

It's all about how important your faith is to you!!
