How long is the process from the time you get your NOA2 to the time you get your visa and can move over to the U.S ? My fiance is from Scotland and we filed with Vermont, its been five months and were still waiting for our NOA2, havnt heard anything from them since November 12,2010....

Hello!

We have also filled in November (NOA1- Nov 17th). We are about to reach the 5 months mark.

About the time estimate, I think that this really depends on when you will get the NOA2 and how long it will take for your fiancé to have the interview scheduled. That depends on the consulate.

I really hope to get the NOA2 april or sooner May. We are planning/hoping to get married on Aug 21st!!

Best wishes!

According to your timeline - you're right on target to hopefully hear something in the next couple/several weeks.

For now - the London Embassy is showing an average of 79 days from when they receive the case from NVC until the visa is issued - based on VJ timelines of course. Stats Page It isn't an exact science but hopefully it'll give you an idea.

It really does depend on how efficient your particular consulate is going to be in the months your case is there. Montreal is notoriously slow but they suddenly opened up a whole bunch of interviews in April. When I was first allowed to book, I was scheduled to go in July.

In any case, I would plan for about 3 months and then do what you can to get the paperwork turned around as fast as possible!

April, 2009 - We met

May, 2009 - We wooed

June, 2010 - We got engaged, looking forward to a small August 2010 wedding

** Reality Check: K-1 Process**

July 22, 2010 - NOA1

**5 months of patient waiting**

December 29, 2011 - call around for information about delay

January 5, 2011 - RFE notice (first online status update yet!)

January 10, 2011 - RFE Hardcopy

January 13, 2011 - RFE Response acknowledged

January 24, 2011 - NOA2 (at last!!)

February 3, 2011 - application sent from NVC to Montreal (aka. the Abyss?)

March 7, 2011 - Packet 3 sent to me

March 10, 2011 - Packet 3 delivered to Montreal

March 21, 2011 - Packet 4 sent to me

April 5, 2011 - Medical

April 13, 2011 - Interview - approved!

April 20, 2011 - visa in hand

May 9, 2011 - POE (Buffalo, NY)

May 10, 2011 - wedding :)

I would definitely second that, there are ways to speed up your processing time at London if you are on top of your paperwork. Get your I-134 forms and supporting documents to your fiance asap and have him apply for his police background certificate while you are waiting. He will need this for his medical. You can also start filling out his packet 3 forms (they are available here) so they are ready to go as soon as he gets his LND number assigned. You can also call NVC shortly after you receive you NOA2 to ask for the number that is assigned to him, you don't have to wait until he receives the letter from London.

Check out the United Kingdom forum too, if you haven't been over there yet. There are lots of people happy to give London specific advice.
