Hi Everyone,

First time poster, I'd like to thank everyone for all the information, don't know how we'd be able do it without you. Have a few very particular questions and was hoping someone could help us out.

1) I'm an American but have never lived in the USA. Do I need a SSN to petition for my fiancée? Do I just leave that field blank?

2) Having never lived in the US is it OK to list my residency outside the US on the I-134 even though my I-129F will be filed through a relative's American address? Do I leave the "how long I've resided there" section blank?

3) I've read in a few different places that no one cares if you are living abroad illegally, is this true?

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

ADS

Off Topic a bit - It would likely be simpler and faster for you to marry first and then file a spouse visa petition with the embassy/consulate (Direct Consular Filing). The VJ Guide for DCF is here >> http://www.visajourney.com/content/dcf

Even a bit more Off Topic - Have you been filing US tax returns? US taxes on worldwide income. There are foreign income exclusions but you still may be required to file the tax returns. This will come up later in the process regardless of visa type. But if it's new territory for you, better to get it sorted now then when the process is moving along.

Leaving blanks causes petition processing to stop and a request for evidence/information to be sent.

There was a couple here a few months ago where the petitioner did not have a SSN and put "none" in the blank and it was okay. As to the other questions, I don't know, but you will have complications, tax returns, domicile issues, sponsorship issues, etc. DCF may be a better option, as noted above.
