Still waiting for Immigration to cash my checks...

In our case it took a while for the AOS check to be cashed, but a month does sound a little long. If your lawyer sent your AOS packet, then surely the packet was sent via a reliable courier, right? For example FedEx or UPS? I see activity in this post where someone sent it certified mail. Yes, I’m sure many use this avenue. However, I have only used FedEx during our process and have always had it recommended sending via FedEx by other creditable sources. Yes, a bit more expensive, nonetheless, certainly worth the extra funds. In summary, the lawyer should at least have a delivery receipt.

If you sent the wrong check amount or didn't sign a form correctly sometimes they will outright reject the package and send it back to you to fix. Just because it was delivered there doesn't mean they won't send it back. However, seeing you said other March filers have had this issue there's probably just a backlog.. pretty ridiculous!

I e mailed my lawyer today because of course she was the one that mailed it, said it was mailed on march 23rd and received on march 28th...

At least now i know they got it, now i ll feel better when i see they have cashed the checks, i ll keep u guys posted.

And yes for some reason there s a few people who sent the papers in march and are still waiting for a response....

Hope things get sorted out, i m getting unpatient...lol

uh oh impatient ;) ....seriously, one of the things I have learned during the whole AOS process is that you would have to put back your expectations and if you distract yourself by living live as usual, maybe even take up a hobby it sure does surprise you once in a while when you get something in the mail from USCIS when you don't expect it :)

Unfortunately there is no such thing as standard processing that applies to all applications of same nature. USCIS receives literally ten thousands of different pieces of mail a day at different lockboxes. People do screen the applications for signatures, checks and their amounts before they take your money and send your paperwork across country to a different service center. There they work on it just in order to again mail it to your local office. With each step and office having different workloads and more or less employees working on cases and/or available to take your fingerprints, interview you etc.

The only standard rule is that whenever something happens significantly at USCIS, you need to wait 30 days before you can inquire. They know people are anxious to see their status, want to know their approval, but considering mailing time and the amount of applications one employee works on they would like to be left alone to work on it ;)

Good, you got the receipt notice, making it business day 14 today that they have the opportunity to deposit your check, as other people mentioned, it can even take a month before that happens, as nerve wrecking as it is not seeing any movement with the application you mailed in.

So again, try to relax - I mentioned surprises in the mail- I received my EAD card shortly after New Years, was all happy and started looking anxiously forward to get my interview notice, expected it to be coming in the mail by March as I recall there was an average 5 month listed for AOS processing at the time when I mailed in my package. But low and behold, just one day after I received the EAD I had another envelope in the mail, Interview appointment for early February

Good luck on your AOS journey !!! Before you know it you will have your green card in hand:)

I am also in the same boat. I have sent my AOS application to chicago lockbox on 3/22 and i have not received any update on that so far. I have sent the application by myself (no lawyer involved). It is exactly 4 weeks for today and i have not received either an email or receipt notification. Please suggest.

So are we. Sent AOS packet on 19 March, delivered on 21 March and still no info whatsoever (check not cashed either). I called USCIS the other day and was told to call back in few weeks if we haven't had anything by then. I thought our packet was lost but after reading some posts here, it looks like somewhere out there there is a huge pile of mail waiting to be opened... let's hope eventually they'll get round to it.

Hello everyone!!

I m starting to get really worried cause I see most people here who has mailed all their documents in order to do the AOS, Immigration has cashed their checks within a few days or a couple weeks at the most..

My lawyer mailed all the paperwork and checks on March 23rd and Immigration still haven t cashed my checks...

I m starting to worry that something went wrong or the papers got lost...

I saw someone here talking about a sub forum about people who filled for the AOS in march this yr and that their AOS s are also taking longer.... can someone tell me what s going on? if u know about any extra info I might be missing..

Hope to hear from any of you, thank you so much for taking the time to read my message.

Have a great day!!

Leslie

Hi on my previous reply I said I had sent my AOS packet on MARCH 14th... actually it was APRIL 14th my mistake so it only took a few days for them to reply to me. Today, 9 days later after filing all the paperwork we received all three I797C work, travel, and adjust status. I was so surprised how quickly this happen. I am lucky that I didn't make any errors and filed all the paperwork properly as that was my concern.

Hello everyone! I see nobody has post anything here in the last few days...

Well I hope u guys got in touch with immigration and got better news than me.... I talked to my lawyer, they called immigration and even tough they have proof that someone at immigration received my package, it seems it could be LOST! yes just what u r reading.... lost.... can u you believe that?? they looked me up in the system and my name is not even there....

I found out about this on friday... needless to say it ruined my weekend...

Now we gotta wait for a reply from immigration and see if they can find my papers, if not I will have to refil everything again....... which would mean all this time waiting was for nothing...

I m very dissapointed about this whole situation and I hope it gets fixed...

Good things my checks were never cashed at least I didn t loose the money... but still... it s a hassle to have to fill out everything again, go to the DR again and get copies of everything ( i don t have to do the medical exam again thanks god because it s good for one yr but... still... I cannot believe they can lost a bunch of such important paperwork....

I come from a country where things fail very often, but I can see sometimes things fail here as well....

Did anybody hear anything about your cases? anybody got their checks cashed or something??
