Delay in Visa Issuance

Hello Everyone,

My fiancee, Ann, had her K1 interview at the U.S. Embassy in Manila on March 22, 2011. It has now been 19 days since the interview and still nothing from the Embassy or 2GO. At the interview, she was told that her application was approved and dutifully waited in line at the window to provide information to the courier service. She was not asked to submit any 221(g) documentation nor was administrative processing of any kind discussed. We have contacted the Embassy by phone, which proved to be a waste of time ... the call center can't provide any information and simply can't get through on the IV number. I have sent inquiries to IVManilaReplies@state.gov, to no avail (no response). We have even bugged the courier, just to be on the safe side.

Has anyone else here had a similar experience? If so, how did you get it resolved? If anyone is aware of a general slowdown in the issuance of visas, that information would also be helpful.

Thanks and have a great afternoon!

Joe

Hi Everyone,

I hate to reply to my own topic, but wanted to also include that I have also sent constituent assistance requests to both of my Senators and the my Congressman. Still too early to report any results.

Thanks!

Joe

I forgot the number but there is a specific number I called to ask about my visa and they we're able to let me know when it was printed out. Maybe someone here can post it? Im hoping u just had a printing delay coz of high volume of applicants. Mine took 9 working days before I received it.

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the feedback!

@ Carolyn: We have not previously tried that number, but will be sure to do so first thing on Monday morning. Thank you for bringing it to our attention!

@ Messy: I believe the number to which you are referring is the one for the Immigration Visa (IV) unit: 02 301 2000 (ext. 5184 or 5185). We have been trying those numbers for the last week and a half and can't get through, even first thing in the morning. We got through once on Thursday, but were told that they were at lunch and to call back. Began calling about 5 minutes for the 50 minutes they quoted to us and ... couldn't get through. :) Obviously, we will keep trying that avenue as well. In our case, it works out to about 12 business days (the IV unit was closed for an offsite event on March 30).

Thanks again and have a great evening!

Joe

You can't get anybody by calling them. They have excuses like currently on break/lunch, etc. They always hung up the phone. I don't think they are USC who answer the phone because they have Filipino accent. The only way you can find out is to go back at the US Embassy. If your fiancee is still in Manila, she can go back at the US Embassy in Manila to inquire the status.

19 days seems long. She can try waiting for 5 more days and if there is no text regarding confirmation/tracking number that it was delivered, then I would recommend to have her go back to the US Embassy in Manila. Make sure her cell phone is turned ON all the time. Sometimes when you text anybody in the Philippines and their cell phone is turned OFF, the text message won't go through and the text message will be lost.

19 days seems so long...as for my experienced it only took 7 days, and one of my friend is just even 5 days...we knew that the visa is going to be delivered because the courier service texted us informing that the embassy already release it and expected delivery will be the next day..If there's no problem during the interview I'm pretty sure she will receive it sooner...but I was just wondering that it took that long.

This is too long, I had my interview March 21 and I received my passport and visa March 29. I learn from another post that the date of printing was March 25, so your fiancee's visa and passport should be included in that batch.

Try all this ways to contact the embassy http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3023/contact-us.html

Goodluck!
