Hello everyone,

I have an unusual situation. I filed and received NOA 2 for my fiancé. My contract at work is expiring next week. I am looking but having trouble finding one, and unfortunately have no other income/savings. My fiancé’s sister is a US citizen and is very stable financially – can she theoretically sign affidavit to sponsor/co-sponsor? Do we have any other options?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

This is an embassy/consulate topic, Moving...

Profile details please... (Country, Visa type, etc...) http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=usercp&tab=members

What country are we talking about, if high fraud country, using a family member of the beneficiary like sister or brother as a co-sponsor can raise a BIG red-flag, will look like using a fiancee visa to get around the LONG time time for a sibling petition.

Some consulates will not accept a co-sponsor.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Like YuAndDan said, the country is important.

It may be possible to have a co-sponsor, and in low-fraud countries that would solve your problem right there.

Does your fiancee have any savings of her own?

What do your past 3 tax returns look like?

If you can't find a way around this, then you may have to wait until you find another contract/job (in which case may be worth taking any job that will give you the required income). You do have a few months in which to find another job, and generally it is possible to delay the interview for a while. Not ideal obviously, as I'm sure you want her over here as soon as possible, but it is an option if all else fails.

Oh and I wanted to ask YuAndDan: how much do you think that would really increase the chance of denial? I agree it could be a big red flag in some countries, but they already will know that she has a sister in the US so logically the sister being a sponsor shouldn't really add any extra suspicion. Of course this whole thing is never logical...

Guys, thanks so much for your replies.

YuAndDan: here are the dates: applied 09/28/10, first NOA 10/07/10, second NOA 04/07/11.

Country: Kazakstan

JoannaV: Yes, my fiance has a good savings account back home and has sufficient funds to support herself and even me for a while before she gets a job here. But from what I read online INS does not care about her money, they care about my income as a sponsor. My last 3 tax returns demonstrate that I have had decent paying jobs and have gotten good tax returns all 3 years.

How long does it take for her to get a letter from the embassy and how soon will they want her to come for an interview? If that's a matter of a month or two then I am praying to God that I should be able to get any job that covers the minimum requirements. If not, then how do we delay the embassy interview?

Thanks a lot for your advice.
